I find it hard to believe that the boss alien would care to choose to enter a statue because of its ancient roman mythology background (as we all know the statues are but the outer shells for hiding). "Hey, let's use that statue for my disguise, since I'm the most powerful and it's also the most powerful god in the human mythology." Same with iconic characters, but from an artist's view point, he might choose a iconic character so the readers can identify it.

If this is Greece, then I would agree with Zeus, as Zeus is iconic and popular. People easily think of Zeus when thinking about Greek mythology. Jupiter isn't. And I think it's safe to assume that the alien will also be a statue, and again, there's no jupiter statue that is significant in Rome at all.

Still, there was the Kannon statue, the Goddess of Mercy.
The interesting thing is that it seemed it did not know of its meaning, because if the statue didn't even know human language and had to eat that guy's brain to acquire it, it's likely it also did not know of human culture to purposedly choose that particular statue as its shell. Also, it's not like the aliens take possession of the "shells". We've seen each of the arms had in possession equipments that were not part of the creature's original body - such as the sword and the regeneration device.

And if the final statue is indeed Zeus, then it adds to the course the manga has been pointing to, with all the references to god, both to its existence (mentioned by Nuri) and his unexistence (mentioned by Kurono) as well as Inaba's mention to the devil.

I agree with Cali about the god-reference but as mentioned, Zeus is Greek, not Italian (not that would stop Oku and his errors!), so I'm going with Jupiter. Small doesnt mean weak, look at Nuri when he first appeared as a little old man.

The boss was Guanyin, which is one of the many and not the highest Bodhisattva in Buddhism. The giant statue is perhaps Siddhartha Gautama, which is the creator and of highest statue in Buddhism, but he wasn't the boss. So your example is kinda irrelevant, here.

Need not explaination, but I can bet on it that it's not gonna be a statue of Jesus Christ. It will be some nameless statue of Jupiter in some forgotten area of rome museum before it's a statue of Christ.

Remember that all the Roman gods were just re imaginings of the Greek ones.
I think it's likely we'll see the major gods like Ares/Mars, Aphrodite/Venus, Hades/Pluto, and so on and on in this chapter. Seems more likely that the boss will be something unusual though, maybe a classic work of art like Michelangelo's David or something from the Sistine Chapel.
