I don't care for all the pathetic Nishi haters. Fuck them. Kekeke

Nishi is one of the most badass chars in this manga after Izumi. He's really like a cold blooded serial killer. Love that quote he said on the last page. Any other person with Gantz suit would just freak out and go berserk but Nishi's coolest mofo ever. Kekeke

Manga: Nishi felt to his death while trying to escape the police - as Ikari mentioned, we're unsure as to why Nishi was running away from the police to being with.

Anime Nishi and manga Nishi are very distinct just by that. There's quite a way of difference between someone who finds strength to commit suicide and one who finds strength to retaliate against whatever is opposing/bullying him.
I'm actually not too sure about that, now that you mention it. I mean, I'm not sure of there being quite a way of difference between someone who finds strength to commit suicide and one who finds strength to retaliate against whatever is opposing/bullying them. At least in the context of the manga.

The difference is shown in our first introduction to Cherry and his master. Cherry starts off trying to commit suicide over being bullied. Fear drove him to to commit suicide, and he may even have been afraid of commiting suicide, as he needed to be cheered on by the people he was chatting with on the internet to go through with it. Of course he failed, and it was only with the introduction of power, in this case the psychic power, that he was able to find the strength to retaliate against his bullies.
So, in the context of the manga, the difference is power. Which isn't that much of a difference, since power can shift so unpredictably.

It seems to me that Nishi never found that power before his death, as he names a few of of his likely antagonists in this latest chapter. So, I believe that he was bullied prior to being sent to the Gantz room, found that power afterwards but didn't use it, as he prefered to use that power to let his tormentors fear him.
You don't always need strength to commit suicide either. Fear can also be a factor. If he was being chased by the police, he would be afraid. He was in a high place when he fell, otherwise he wouldn't have died, so he was most likely in or on a building of some sort and was trapped. So, let's say he was afraid, and trapped. There was no way out of his situation. That could be enough to drive someone to think that their only option was to take their own life. If he was being bullied, then that would have only made the choice of taking his own life even easier.

I don't know. I still believe that Nishi fell to his death of his own accord, even if it was to escape the police and that he was bullied prior to this. I take it back. After thinking about it for a while, I don't think he kills to see the reflection of his death in the kill, but rather to elevate himself above everyone else in his own mind. This would be why he enjoys it. Why he needs it. He needs it to feel powerful. He enjoys it because it means he's not a freak or an outcast, but someone with power.
It will be interesting to see what happens with him and the big girl, because a very real avenue is there to turn him completely around. This is a chance for him to build a different sort of confidence that doesn't require him to kill things, and would give him a reason to fight alongside the others more often. Each of the other major players in the Gantz room has someone they need to survive for. Kuruno has his girl. Kato has his little brother. Cherry has his girl. Reika has to survive to bring back another copy of Kuruno. Muscle Rider dude has the little kid. Now Nishi might have this girl.
All the rest, are expendable anyway. Inaba is yet to show any sort of fighting ability or spirit, and is a dead end up to now. Old man has no one really left, except for Takeshi and Muscle Rider guy who are now living at his place... Which makes him a little less expendable, I guess.

I think whether or not the big girl lives or dies will be the harbinger of Nishi's own final death. If he kills her, he'll die in the catastrophe. If he lets her live, he'll survive.
Also, I was wrong. The big girl did try and do something when they forced Nishi out of the window.

I doubt it, afterall its gantz, we are reading. Nishi has only been revived recently, its plain bullshit to kill him off after his first mission. And his role seems to get more important from panel to panel he's in, because he seems to be the only one able to gather information or answer some questions. The other are just too damn ignorant, we never saw somebody spending their time to actually think about gantz or its origins, other than:''I've to get the hell outta here!!11''. Of course it could be a way for oku to show, that nobody is safe fom death by killing him off again, but he should rather kill some1 else off.

My prediction for catastrophe is an all out alien invasion during day-time setting. Gantz will disable all his rules, because aliens will be everywhere attacking everyone. And it would neat if there were special alien assassins hunting the Gantz teams specifically. Kurono and Katou should be their top primary targets considering they've both defeated very powerful aliens in the past. Would be refreshing to see the hunters get hunted by their targets for once.
etufo: HS is most likely going to die sooner or later. Who will kill the cool character killer?

Popo: well, obviously going by that logic, HS will have to kill himself...

There's a big difference between an accident and suicide, you know. The intent makes all the difference.
And the matter of strength, well, at least to me, taking up your own life recquires certain determination, even if it's been caused by fear.
An Cherry wasnt' resolute enough, otherwise he would have gone through it. There's no such a thing as failed suicide attempt, only if you don't really wanna die, and that's my point.
Considering Nishi killed himself in the anime, then he gained a whole new world by being revived into a fantastic reality in which now he'd have amazing power - the Gantz equipment.
Manga Nishi would see it as an opportunity but being less emotional about it, because it'd mean less to him.
In both cases, his inteligence plays a huge part, but the manga Nishi, having shown more knowledge and other ambitions - such as seeing the world crumbles - can't really be compared with anime Nishi in terms of maturity because we haven't seen enough of him, and anime Gantz was more of something mystical, since it just appeared and then had the deal with Kurono, and also Nishi had a different set of knowledge and intents, as he left that case to be found by someone - maybe himself, freed, since he wouldn't really count on his death, as he was trying to go free. And that's another matter, Nishi's goal by achieving 100 points was to go free, at least at first. Of course there are theories like him having the website would be a way not to get totally away from Gantz reality and maintain his memories even if only a little bit, triggered by the info there.
So, anyway... guess I've deviated enough from the topic at hand.

    ---
As for the rest of your argument, on the team's validity, well, I on't really think having someone to return to or a reason to be alive counts for anything in Gantz.
Katou died. Kurono died. Cherry died.
They can die anytime. They might be ressurected, sure, but having someone or something to fight for doesn't really mean they have more chances...

Nishi has his mother so that must count for something for him to live for.

He beat up Kurono. Besides I think Inaba will do something to redeem himself befo9re he gets killed. He is already showing signs that he tries to change himself.

^I must say, though, that Nishi' dying monologue also leaves room for Ikari's theory of the mother being dead. Personally, I think she's alive, but it could very well be that she's dead.
