I've reread the scanlation on MS. He said the first team to discover the timer came to the conclusion that it counting down towards disaster. He didn't say who the that team was but it is possible that it wasn't in Tokyo...after all, what are the odds that someone from Japan would randomly say "Katastrophe" in front of a giant black ball. It would have to be a visitor who died and got recruited in Tokyo like those rappers.
This would essentially mean that there is a network, possibly the one Kikuchi visited or possibly a system set in place by Gantz. And that would make sense, better Hunters would be ones who could communicate with one another. If there's any further plot development with Nerdo, it will probably involve him give the Tokyo team information about this possible network.
By the way, on the note of the German...it seems like Oku did a much better job then when he tried to write the English dialogue of the rappers...
So if the germans are in charge of developing and mass producing the Gantz ball, they should also know about the timer going down.
Maybe all those balls in the last picture are only stored to be membered soon to safe as much germans dying in the upcoming Katastrophe attack as possible. Like a life insurance for those who have build Gantz to survive and get resurrected as Gantzers themselves. Those balls just look like they're waiting for their human implant.
@ Red: Maybe the people on the German team would be talking about how disastrous it was for them to be recruited, or maybe talking about a mission that didn't went well and said something like "it was a total 'katastrofe'"; which triggered the timer. Indeed it's very unlikely another team would find out about that before them.
It maybe likely that they prepared all those balls for a last line of defense when a lot of humans die during the alien attack. This would explain why the security is so lame that everyone can walk in as he wants. They don't care anymore and are busy enough preparing the pilots for the balls in this factory.

There was no one there except for klang dude. Kekekeke. So I guess they gave up the reamaining balls and went away in some underground bunker. Kekekeke.
Can't wait for the next chapter, hopefully with the invasion starting.
Kuron should realize that he has to revive that furryfag Izumi. Or go for weapon upgrades. Kekeke.
Either way, it seems that Nishi told the team about the Timer. That may have been what convinced Izumi to leave when he first cleared the game.

He has just been revived, where would he get 100p to revive anyone or go for weapon upgrades? There just isn't enough time for another mission before katastrophe starts.

Hell, Katou made 100 points in one mission. Probably more if the 100 point maximum rule wouldn't count.
Who can tell how the alien invasion will differ from the other arcs? Maybe they come in daily now.
^Just a minor detail: certainly Katou would have scored more than 100 points if it weren't for the point per mission limit, since he defeated three other aliens before going to face the Nurarihyon.
