^Heh, wait and see then... personally i kind of think of the guy as being the "living CPU" of the black ball, but well, could also be just some random guy.

My thinking is just get a German guy form say Berlin for team Berlin. Or a NYC guy for the NYC team. That way all translations would be localized easiy. A living translator with the personality of the host. I do know if you stimulate the voice center for the brain you will speak. Kinda like tourrettes syndrome.
^I reread it three times and i can't quite make sense of it. At any rate, I woudn't go as far as calling the man inside a "living CPU" a theory - it's a fact, or rather most people seem to agree he does do a part of the thinking. How important he is to making the black ball work is a subjective assessment (we know he responded to nishi poking him in the ear, even though that could just be the equivalent of a "button"), at least until oku gives us more facts to work with, and how the guy got in there purely personal opinion (oku hasn't given us the faintest shadow of a hint - from the final pic of the latest chapter, you can't tell whether there's a guy inside already, so effectively, we know nothing for fact).
That being said, we've gone over what the nature of the black ball before, going as far as dissecting every word he's put on the screen. Some people argued that the "l337 language" was a sign of "free will" while others argued it could just mean it was "programmed" to use that language. Others saw the evolving comments and character nick jokes as a clear sign that the black ball is capable of independent rational thought. (etc, etc) This discussion is old, really.

Like a Babbelfish Interface, maybe?
To enable the Computer in the Ball to communitcate with the Locals...
@ Nu_delic: I agree on the language issue, I think it's a pretty valid theory.
@ shin: As for the l337 talk, well, some Japanese syllables like "no" (genitive particle) sometimes are normal and sometimes are reflected characters (bear with me, I don't know how to correctly describe it). So I don't think it's pre-programmed, but who knows.
And for the human being a very important component, I agree too, however I don't really think there'd be a mass production of those balls if there weren't any candidates for human component in mind; even though there is the "Gantz screw up" speech by Nishi, I personally disagree with him and think every move Gantz makes is planned. And at the very least, they could indeed, as theorized recently, just clone a suitable man for teams in the same region.
By the way, did anyone count how many balls are there?
And I just got reminded of my arguments for Gantz knowing the future; the death of Tae; she was transferred and Kurono only came to know of her death after listening to Izumi mentioning the 100 pts menu. And Gantz wouldn't go throught the trouble of having Tae in the database for any other reason than keeping Kurono in the game. Therefore, he'd have to know Kurono would remain in the game.
