The psychic powers

If this has already been discussed my bad.

Do you guys (and/or girls?) think that Sakata and Sakurais powers have any connection to Gantz? With all the crazy crap that's been connected to Gantz in this series (vampires, aliens, super-weapons) ,is it at all possible that the psychic powers we've seen so far are another gantz-related/gantz-aware experiment set loose? It was never made clear what these powers origins are. Sakata mentioned a teacher that taught him everything he knows but how did that guy know anything?

Are they bound to play a bigger role in the Gantz-mystery or were they just something Oku thought would be cool to use to put more variety into the cast and i'm just overthinking this?

Any thoughts?

^ Well, I'm kinda sorry to burst your bubble, especially since it's your first thread, but indeed there's already other threads for it, so yes, it's already been discussed.
People have already come up with the powers being Gantz-related theory.
Personally, I don't think so. Gantz to me is about technology not ESP.
Also, we are unclear about the origin of most things in Gantz, including the aliens. I don't think there'll ever be a chapter explaining how esp works.

Anyhow, use the "search" function next time, before creating a thread, or ask questions on the faq or feedback thread.

If the aliens we've seen are actually creatures that naturally evolved (be it in another environment or in our back yards), then it's only safe to assume that members of our species can be endowed with special abilities that can put us on par with them. Probably unrelated to Gantz, though it would be safe to say their psychic powers played a part in their being taken to the room when they died.

The world isn't made so simply to endow everything with the tools to survive. The problem with an isolationist ecosystem deal, which would be us if they were really in our back yards, is that things that couldn't normally stand up to big bad predators get to live. So should the isolation bit ever be compromised, everything chilling in it's own little ecosystem would be screwed.

And for the record we aren't the highest thing on the food chain naturally. We have many many guns to keep us there, but find yourself on the wrong side of a hippo when it's angry without a gun. Well i think you see where i'm going with this...

taking into account that gantz technology can implan a funny bomb inside your head when it transports you, I assume the ESP-brain modification (Sakata said he had already fixed Sakurai's brain to have the power in their first meeting) could be explained by it, too. But we'll probably never know

^ Well, it is in Gantz abilities to manipulate to a degree the bodies of the people he recruits. However, to assume ESP would be Gantz work to me is wrong for the following reasons:

1) Gantz wouldn't give a "prize" that can be mastered and given to people outside of the game; what I mean is, supposing the ESP would be the powerful weapon, as once theorized, there'd be no point in having that as option since only one member of the team could win it and pass it on to others.
2) If it was Gantz induced, then the people who got the powers wouldn't know they had it once they were freed.
3) When I said "Gantz is about technology not ESP" I meant, for instance, that even with the body manipulation thing, Gantz places a bomb in their brain to kill them, not a direct modification/destruction of the brain. It utilizes other kinds of tools, guns, bikes, etc, not enhancements to the base component - which would be the humans.
Also, body manipulation only occurs during transfers.

As for evolution, well, who knows.
My own theory on the matter is that there must be some kind of factor that made Sakurai able to receive Sakata's modification. In this case, only people with a disposition for the powers could have them awaken by some other person with powers. Which would be logical and give us a reason why even though super-helpful, neither Sakata nor Cherry shared their powers with the rest of the team (other than that changinc the focus of the manga, of course).
Or maybe, more likely, it's just something decided by Oku, just like how the vampires didn't try to infect some of the Gantzers so that they would have a spy.

I think Gantz would have noticed when a Gantzer became a Vampire.
Not that he would care the least, but still

Anyway, Theories state that every Human is capable of ESP with propper Training.
Don't know 'bout that as I didn't found a Teacher for that Powers.
Also, the ESPers know that using the Power weakens their Bodys, I think that's the Reason they won't enable the others to their Powers.
