Well, considering the sheer amount of people and aliens he´s been putting in Gantz lately which lately almost rivals Berserk in terms of quantity and quality, it´s no small wonder that he has assistants to work the CG background and models (Both of which should be more easy to accomplish).

Every decent Mangaka nowadays has a team of assistants, even the ones with really bad artwork but each time the issue is being discussed, it´s settled that the main author does the most work overall.

When did Oku spoke about his assistants by the way?

No offense but Miura (Berserk's mangakou) doesn't have a SINGLE assistant since 3 years?!? I might be a little wrong though.

But on another note, I'm very glad Oku's been using a lot of his ressources lately to bring us on a greater level as he kept doin' ever since Phase 2 is out. The backgrounds are magnificient, the new mission is on epic standards, as we've seen and two characters killed in two chapters is like BOOM (R.I.P to both... especially Inaba o.O)

Oku is doin' great, honestly Gantz has kept me out of breath ever since Kaze kicked the f out of Nuri so I ain't got no thrash talk to say. He's still leadin' the story, I think he knows where he's heading (for christ sake the Osaka mission took so long I think this where he found all the inspiration at some point) and we're about to have more crucial questions answered pretty soon... trough a lot of ass kicking.

Deep down from my heart, I've got something to say... I love Gantz, so much! :P

To be honest, the backgrounds are not that good because Oku draws so well. I think he uses photos and transforms them with a programm into background art (Miura draws everything which takes much more time). Never was too clear on that though.
Whatever works is a good thing. And for Gantz it works pretty well.

And Oku's doing great your're right. Kurono is back, Reika is staring to loose it, Inaba finally died and Gantz is back to a more stable release speed. Hope he keeps it up.
