Massive deletion of information on Gantz wikipedia

Gantz - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This guy decided to mass delete information which had been there for years. I tried, under my wikipedia username Dream Focus, to add some of the information back in, in a cleaner format, but he erased that as well. No one else posted anything about it in the talk page, so I asked for a third party viewing, under wikipedia rules for when two editors disagree with something, and no one is involved other than those two. The people that came over supported deleting things, apparently simply because it was too long.

But other articles are longer, even for less popular series!

Should they have erased the Gantz Equipment section? Is that not relevant to the series? What about the rules of the game, and other sections?

I did a search on Google, and found an old thread here about the wikipedia article for Gantz, and a lot of people posted they liked it a lot the way it was back then. And the guy who wrote a lot of that information post here also. So I figured I'd make a topic, and see what everyone thought about the new mass edited version there now.

Most information has been redirected to side articles, while a lot of other stuff really should be removed. Frankly, I think he did the right thing deleting those information. Gantz article has grown way too big. Some people seem to have decided to track down every pieces of detail in the story and put them all on Wikipedia. Also, a lot of stuff on that article were written by fans in an in-universe style, like an analysis on Gantz' motive and rules; that is against Wikipedia's rules.

What we need is a Gantzpedia somewhere, where we can write our heart out. Wikipedia has strict guidelines on content and quality, so a lot of info about Gantz aren't suitable for it.

More like a Gantz Wiki should be made.

I believe the wikipedia program is free and open source. Do you think the owner of stoptazmo would want to host one for all the various series? If not, are there any decent free host out there we can upload a wiki to?

When discussing how things work on this forum, you have some who post pictures from the Gantz manga, to back up their claims. I think having images like that throughout the article, or at least links to them, would be nicer than just referencing the issue and page number.

yeah, the gantz wikipedia article should be far smaller, Bigger series oike higurashi have smaller articles;we should instead have a gantz wiki.

IMO smaller articles are better to read, not so tiresome. Basic info is all that needed, though such deletion is rude much... People put effort into that...
The article could have a link to these forums for some "details". he-he-he.
And yeah, Gantz wiki would be kool.

Havent checked the Gantz wikipedia pages since the deletion but some had to be rewritten as we've learned some facts in the manga for whats written there and the manual has helped too.

Example; the wiki says the xgun uses nanoexplosives but it actually uses from the manual statements, compressed energy that expands in the target.

I recently went on the Gantz wiki and there is very little info for anything after the Italy hunt scoring chapter, and no articles on the Gantz Minus story.

If someone can read the novel I'd say to add pages for Ooki, Akari and the rest and adding new info to Nishi and Izumi's pages.

I know not much has happened in Phase 3 so far, but there is nothing of that in the wiki so far.
