Nishi had problems with the feds at such a young age O.o?
etufo: HS is most likely going to die sooner or later. Who will kill the cool character killer?

Popo: well, obviously going by that logic, HS will have to kill himself...

    Thanks Cali.

WTF did Nishi do that the police were after him. Did he hack into the government or did he kill one too many strays?

To stay on topic what do you guys think my interpretation of the message in the Osaka mission?

^ The idea of a development inclined to coldness in case Katou weren't there is ok, however I think Kaze could stick to saving others, because he's Muscle Rider ^^
I think the team getting colder is still a possibility.
Also, on showing the fate, it doesn't necessarily reflect failure; as far as we know, the Osaka team was going pretty good until Nuri. It's just bad luck, it happens. So maybe the "fate" could be a team that actually strives to get the mission accomplished while having fun with it, or, putting it simply, all of them become twisted fuckers.

That said, another take on this mission's development is that Katou has reassured his "I must not be a bastard" moto, but the rest of the team, actually, most likely Reika has realized they shouldn't get involved in unnecessary fights, however, since that almost led to them all being killed, that might lead to a "no questions asked, just kill'em all" way of thinking. I certainly look forward to them taking the battle with a bit more of... no hesitation.

Kurono himself was losing his humanity; it's interesting that the budha mission and the anhilation of the team, which could've made him a selfish Nishi type, led him the opposite way, making him a Katou-like leader. It would be nice analysing the effects of the mission on the Osaka team, that is, if any of them survives.

They weren't as heartless as all that, just a bit dumb; Kuwabara and George showed some concern for Knob after realising he wasn't kidding. Kuwabara showed concern for George when he was about to get killed. I know, these are just very small displays of any sort of caring, but it's more than fucking an alien girl while two people with you get killed and you don't even look at it.
Also, even Oka, he could've stayed quiet and let team get screwed by the Nurarihyon, but he warned them, even if it was in an unfriendly way "y'all gonna die".

Also losing their humanity, the Tokyo team maybe will work more like a R6 team (not that far :P), but could be good see them acting with a lot of tactics...but there'll be those noobs in the game and with their attitude of "don't let'em die". Well...

Off: It could be cool see some confrontation between the teams like a warfare or at least some aliens without weird shapes and using the same weapons as the teams.

About Nishi, I think he was chased by cops to the roof as he had shoplifted. He was stuck on the roof and chose to jump rather than be caught (maybe he figured he might survive it, maybe he chose death over dishonour, I dunno he was 13 at this point ).

Na, the Osaka team lost because they had no Titz . Does anyone still remember her?

Anyway, back to this discussion - I was thinking of starting something like this, but after the osaka arc actually ended AND the dust settles a bit.
"the dust" refers to the sandstorm of "wtf"s "Maybe"s "damn oku"s "I think"s that will probably follow the end of the osaka arc. But well, it's here now, so we'll just go with that.
My opinion is that it's too early to be saying anything - Cali and BBS have done a good job summing up the "message" aspect of Gantz - we are going somewhere, even though it's not something that's readily apparent as one action chapter follows the other (or, as has been happening lately, a inaction chapters). However, a lot of what we have to say will depend on how the mission actually ends.

Big questions that need to be answered
    Who is going to die?
    Who gets the 100 points?
What do they do with it?
    What about the Osaka Team?
How does the world react to the wholesale uncloaked Massacre?

We all assume different answers to these questions, and well, if you want to get a discussion going w/o hard answers, we'll be arguing based on conjecture, and getting nowhere.
E.g. Teamwork>"one man army" remains to be seen - It might still come down to just one man owning the boss (Katou, with a capture gun, w/o outside help.)

^^How's that supposed to beat Nuri?

    IMO:
If the Osakans are willing to teamwork , the current tokyo team would get steam rolled, no doubt. Kuwabaras team up with george was at least as good as Izumis and Kuronos team up during the oni mission, for example.Like Cali said: the osakan team was going pretty well till it came down to Nuri, anyway.

In the end, I don't get it, why so many people praise the teamwork of tokyos team. It's actually pretty shit... Besides the usual team ups like Kurono/old man, Sakata/Sakurei, it's nowhere to be found. Teh majority like Nishi, Kaze, Izumi, Katou and even Reika during the oni arc were/are on their own. The teamwork against the oni boss e.g.: they were fighting him 1on1 most of the time... Nobody wanted to recieve a blow so they waited for some1 to defeat it and only made a move by force, more or less, cause the one fighting him got owned. In the current arc you will only find 2 or 1 situation(s) were teamwork was used, yet again. When they first engaded Nuri and failed to run away, where almost half of them was crippled. (Imo that can't be considered teamwork, but oh well...). When they had to help out kaze, where they (of course) just stood there and watched at first. And now their plan... w0w

You can only speculate which team would be more successful, when the tokyo team joined the hunt from the start, Because both teams are almost equaly bad towards the end of the mission, with the reason being Nuri. So I think the only message, Oku wants us to get, is that other people/whole teams deal different with gantz and the missions.

AND NOW: Osaka > Tokyo as it comes down to individual skills, cause both teams lack good teamwork!!

Only teamwork from Tokyo team I've seen is when Anzu suggested they all fire at Nuri while Kaze is still fighting. Just proves that Katou still needs to work on his leadership skills.
