More like 'times when Oku ruined Gantz by making Kurono leave out of peer pressure'. Now he's making it up for it.

    ^"peer pressure" (Sad smile)
Yeah, the chapter where kurono decided to leave out of the blue was just that; out of the blue. No sense to it really, even though Ikari and Cali have worked very hard to put a meaning to it, with varying degrees of success (can't be bothered finding out exactly where right now, sorry Cali).
But yeah, that chapter really rubbed me the wrong way - from the readers point of view, you are like "Doesn't he realize he is making the biggest mistake of his life?"

^ Maybe he thought the "lose your memories" part was a joke, better yet, he forgot that was part of the option.

Now, seriously, Kurono going free wouldn't be considered such an outrageous decision if he hadn't been killed by HS, since he got his memories back and that could lead to interesting stuff, but he's history now, and that might lead to some other interesting things.

And about making sense... not really, the point actually came up in a discussion with "that's the theory anyways" about why would Kurono have Nishi revived.

"Peer pressure" is just fine, and Kurono's mental state should be disturbed, with all the previous reviving, and possibly eager to meet Tae that he would neglect the possibilities of memory erasures and Gantz sonofabitchness. In short, Oku wants it to happen, it happens, no room for complaining and no what ifs and sometimes no real reason. (=

Shin man, you exploded on that guy very unnecessarialy and should apologize.

Are we talking about Kurono again? He's been gone 2 years now and we have overkilled any intelligent arguments about him.

Well, let's get back on topic, then.

I know this will be simply solved tomorrow when the images are out, but still, I think it's a fair point: Cunning Rabita @ McAnime pointed out some incoherences that could work as reasons to consider the spoiler fake:

    1. No evolution to the fight, Nuri and Oka are still just punching each other, and Oka simply decides to use the palm-blaster which he's already seen being useless. Oka, having beat the game 7 times including a 100pointer previous kill, should know better than just jump in the fight all highty and mighty with no real strategy or whatever.

    2. Nuri's physical attacks being enough to screw the suit when his invisible attacks did nothing. (although we could say that Nuri's physical attacks are indeed stronger...)

    3. The Tokyo team, which had its members shitting on their pants, just suddenly create a pair of balls and go fight an enemy which just beat the strongest gantzer they've ever seen (considering the new suit and etc).

I agree with Cali about it... but we know about the determination of Katou on revive Kurono. Maybe on the next chapter, we have a big surprise. I don't know.

Why would he know better? Kurono and Izumi never died in Gantz and fought like that. The Tokyo team used some very basic strategy (taking care of the wounded members and attacking all at once...). You dont need to read the Art of War to think of something like that... seriously. The most strategic players were Nishi and maybe the sniper, what makes you think Oka will rely heavily on strategy?

Déjà vu in Gantz and every single shonen manga, that would indeed be lame/cliché/same thing all over again (whats the point of the 2nd phase again?).

^ I didn't say rely heavily on strategy, but if you want so, let me rephrase it: a guy who's beaten the game 7 times, and not only being a sneaky bastard (as we'd think because of using stealth), because he single-handedly defeated a 100 pointer before, shouldn't be stupid enough to use the same move, which didn't work, against an enemy who has regeneration. Better now?

And on your second point, please tell me you're not saying Gantz is shounen.

And for the point of phase 2, well, certainly there's one, but I guess it's too soon to pick up anything other than reviving Kurono, as Katou stated in the very first chapter. Gantz is not only about fighting and not only about the mistery of the black orb, Gantz is a little bit deeper than that. This may sound a bit faggish, but Kurono thinking only about getting 100 points to revived the ones he care about instead of going free (at first) or Kaze taking pity at Takeshi, or Katou vowing to revive Kurono, or Sei sacrificing herself for Kurono's affection. It has feeling. And since we're still in the very first battle of this phase, we haven't had much of that, because the damned Nuri fight is taking too long and the Osakan attitude is contrary to the values I just mentioned.

You know what would be nice? If the mid-bosses battle was longer, then it'd be more acceptable. They being defeated too quickly was kind of a let down, and now Nuri being defeated not really quickly is also being some kind of a let down.

There's no possible way those spoilers can be real... Why would Oka shoot his death beam again?
