Default Is the anime of this series even worth buying?

I've heard that the first few episodes are pretty good but it goes down hill some time after the middle of the series because they try to end it rather than leave it open-ended so they could do subsequent seasons based on the rest of the manga.
The reason I got into Gantz is because of an article on the anime that was in Wizard magazine a few months ago but I still havent seen the anime.
    Whats your opinions?

Well, its just my humble opinion but...

Don't Buy the anime!!! Its a waste of your money.
Its not worth the investment. Even if you manage to watch the entire series for free, by the end you'll question why you even bothered. If you're a manga reader, stick with the manga.
    Forever searching...

i found gantz anime to be pretty good, the only reason i'm into the manga is because i enjoyed gantz so much that i was craving more than the 26 episodes they provided....it just seemed too short for something like gantz

they stay accurate to the story compared to the manga except for the "filler" episodes at the end and the few bits and pieces that lead to the filler episodes in the end

so the anime is worth watching in my opinion

    the color....voices....music, its all good.

if only they did it right and continued with the anime.....i would so watch that over the manga even if they were behind from the manga

i wouldn't buy the anime but it's definitely worth checking out. For one thing, if you're getting the U.S release, the first few dvd's only have 2 episodes per disc. DL it here for free:

what bugged me about the anime was they made Kurono less of an asshole, Katou was preachier and Kishimoto appeared very ungrateful towards Kurono. It changed the mood for me, making it less tense and more conventional. Also they made one of the bad gangster guys into a "good" guy. In all, the Gantz anime lost the edge that Gantz manga had.

And it was weird that the Lara Croft chick didn't look like Lara Croft anymore.
