I know it's only an idea, but anyway, Kurono wasn't part of the team back in the days, otherwise Izumi and Nishi would remember him. Nishi would have no reason to refrain from talking to Kurono about old times if he knew him. Also there's Nishi's journal. It's interesting that he might've decided to start it after he got all alone, or maybe Kurono is a dumbass and didn't see Izumi's name on it. On the purpose of the train station Suzuki scene and the comparison with the first chapter, nice, but probably as already pointed, should be just to emphasize the idea of gratitude and make us question whether Kurono told the Old Man the right info or if he was a prick again ^^.

^It's not impossible to say that Izumi may have known Kurono before (assuming Kurono was part of the Gantz team before) if Izumi had his memory wiped. It could have been that Kurono left before Nishi came along. Also, it is rather suspicious that Kurono would so willingly put on the Gantz suit on his first mission even when he never noticed anyone else putting it on (I think Nishi wore the suit before he was summoned by Gantz)

So this whole "it wasn't Kurono's first time in the Gantz room" thing isn't completely impossible. However, until someone that was a old veteran Gantz member is revived and recognizes Kurono, we would never know.

    Good Times

It's defiantly an interesting theory, but until I see some more solid evidence I don't' think I can really support it.

^^ No, you're off there. Kurono realised Nishi was wearing the suit, just check it, Nishi's collar is noticeable and after that Kurono decides on using the suit.

On Kurono being on the "old team", before Nishi's time, well, this is just my opinion, I don't think so.
It's kind of a deviation, you know?

Anyway, the analogy of the station scenes isn't really all that functional either, unless you consider that old woman as part of the team, looking for a way to talk to Kurono out of thankfulness and that particulary doesn't go with me.

I think it´s not a bad theory/guess that Kurono was already in Gantz before, but I don´t really think so...
I think it would cheapen his character or smth like that (in my opinion).
    Of course,it ain´t impossible.
And I also think the second scene was to show how he developed^^
but I wouldn´t be that surprised if he really WAS in Gantz before

I think Kurono may well have been in Gantz as a child, due to Katou's descriptions of his personality and behavior at a younger age. Oku hasn't addressed Kurono's past too much, especially Akira. I get the sense that when (or if) Kurono is revived, there may be an exploration of his backstory, including Akira...we may yet learn just why Kurono was so fearless as a kid.

This is why I love these forums. Mixed in with some of the most retarded posts ever are some of the most thought provoking ones too. Thanks for the posing the question livan.
It would be a stretch for Oku to pull this off believably, but if he did he could probably go down in history for having the most unexpected plot twist IMO.

Maybe because he was a kid ? usually young people are pretty fearless, the older you grow and the more you learn, the more "fear" you have, it's like driving drunk, until one person close to you gets into an accident caused by that, you drive drunk whitout a second tought.

While I concur that young people are often fearless, I think Kurono's antics went above and beyond simple immaturity. Some of the scenes early on in the manga--Kurono jumping off of a bridge onto a truck to evade bullies, if I recall correctly--seem to hint at what the OP is saying.

Furthermore, you can draw a comparison between Kurono at the start of Gantz and Izumi prior to returning to Gantz. Both felt empty and purposeless, both were assholes (though Izumi hid it a lot better), etc...they had similar psychological conditions. One could argue that the Kurono we meet at the beginning of the manga was the way he was because of a past release from Gantz.

Of course, this is all speculation, and I personally grow increasingly convinced that Oku is simply batshit insane and has no master plan with each passing chapter. It's one hell of a ride, though.

It'd be cool, but... nah. I doubt Kurono's been in Gantz before. That flashback with the truck was indeed wild and unusual for a kid (even a grown-up) but it doesn't hint any connection to Gantz. I think Oku only wanted to show how much Kurono had changed.
