Default The more I read into it... The more Gantz seems like a true "bad guy"...

    I don't know... Here's some clues...

#1: The way the Buddha and the Shorty Aliens question why the Hunters chose to kill them when they had done nothing wrong...

#2: The completely sadistic and disgusting way that Gantz proposes that Izumi re-enter the Gantz team. Kinda pointless when we now know that you can enter Gantz without dying. So all Izumi had to do was grab onto Kurono... Plus anybody the transfers to the room recieves a free bomb gift in their heads regardless...

#3 The main conflict between the Vamps and the Hunters are completely disregarded when Phase 2 begins. Gantz seems more like a higher power that's beyond any Vamp's league.

And also... Does Gantz have control of time and space? Think about it...

Gantz went back in time and saved Katou from death. Which means 1000 Arms is alive and kicking in a alternate timeline?

If this thread has been done before, feel free to curb stomp this topic Tet.

I don't think Gantz has control over time and space. Someone explained it well as cutting and pasting a person. Gantz cuts Katou before being killed by the Buddha boss and pastes him to his ressurection. Gantz is more xerox machine than time machine.

To me, Gantz seems more like the Greek Gods. Lots of power and they don't mind using it to screw with people. Powerful enough to where morality doesn't enter into the equation.

It looks like Gantz isn't even about killing aliens. If it were really serious there would be a team of cloned Izumi's and Kurono's with super weapons.

    Nah.
The last thing katou remembers before getting killed is watching 1000 arms approach...
Then gantz copy pasted him, like Sidharthavicious already said.
when you die as a gantz member, i think you're put in stasis until you're ressurected.
Meaning that you're last memory would be the on before ressurection.

So the Gantz save state theories still holds up.

Yeah... I'm really getting a Greek god type of vibe from Gantz. But you really have to wonder why Gantz wanted Izumi to re-enter Gantz that way...

The stronger fighter excuse from Gantz is kinda BS... Kaze and the ESP team were the only strong people in the massacre. Everyone else was random who became stronger through Kurono's training.

I also was leaning towards gantz being the bad guy until the more recent hunts which made me 50/50; but the end of the world scenario actually makes me think gantz is a good guy.

    theory:
I think he comes form the future and the reason he used already dead people to hunt is to avoid disrupting the time line as much as possible, as screwing much with the past would void the advantage gantz has over knowing what is going to happen.

gantz is already like disrupting the timeline somehow, because the people he copied and was able to re-live their life again, just like they r not dead.

On to the topic of gantz being bad. I would say gantz is more like a cruel person that work towards the main objective. Like eliminating all aliens in the earth, whether they are good or bad does not matter. Just so to ensure that there is no lash back from the aliens.

My personal theory is that its a game. The gantz's are like "omni-potent beings" so yeah like Greek gods. They take people that "die, not sure why might have something to do with being unnoticed or something. Although considering their demeanor i doubt it. And they like try to make a better team than the other gantz's like a game. The aliens are in fact also created by them they select which "level" they think their team is ready to handle. Each "level" is handled in the database, like the players are. So the gantz chooses a level ti thinks its players are ready to handle. sometimes they make mistakes, and sometimes they choose more "special missions" targeting a threat, such as kurono in the anime, or a more viable example Tae in the manga.

    Just my speculations.

I completely disagree with gantz being a defense system against aliens or anything like that because why would any defense system go by a point system, its illogical and inneffective. The rules and the fact that gantz doesnt give nearly ANY direction also shows an ineffectiveness of a defense system.

Remember that gantz has been said to be somethign that has been going on from several years, so discretely killing small groups of aliens before they actually become a big menace makes sense.

If the missions were made purely for entertainment purposes where the mastermind created the threat themselves then why would they transport their creations along with the guinea pigs out in the open where the general public could spoil their fun? Why place such importance upon maintaining a strict level of secrecy from the beginning by inacting certain rules and restrictions in the first place? IMO, the most logical conclusion is that some high level personnel from Area 51 with a god complex is screwing around with alien technology. Either that or the government itself is using dead people as the perfect test subjects for anti-alien weaponry in various situations.

In order to 'acknowledge' the 'irony' I would have to learn two new words today.

...And I'm not going to do that.

How was Izumi or anyone else for that matter suppose to know how the teleportation works? Not even HS was sure that he would get transferred along with the Suzaki.

The bomb is meant to keep the players within the boundaries during missions and contain the secret of Gantz, which is pointless now.
