Hey Shin, I understand the Izumi comparison to HS since they both are cold hearted and use a sword but could you tell me what HS has in common with Kurono? HS is calm and calculative when he fights, Kurono is hot headed and fights with determination and will power. Also they do not even resemble each other.
I thought Kato and Nishi were the ones replacing them permanently.

"Sigh" i knew i should have elaborated more on that. You are right on the issue of Kurono. They have absolutely nothing in common in terms of character. I was talking more in terms of character design. So basically, Izumi for sword and character, and a "remade" Kurono for looks and physique.
Otherwise, the Nishi/Katou for Izumi/Kurono argument pushed forward by Ikari holds for me.
Sorry for not having been clearer

True bad guy. There's someone higher than "Gantz." So should this series be called Gantz? Guess its cause its from the point of view of this ball.

I doubt that Gantz has a superior. I think the story will play out two way. Gantz has the power to save mankind or leave it to the aliens to exterminate the human race. Gantz could be responsible for the alien invasion or it trying to prevent it. But Gantz being the savior of mankind somehow does not fit. I think it would fit Gantz to be the ultimate villain by using human and aliens to fight each for its own amusement.

There are basically two ways to think of Gantz: either as some sort of mythical being - given the cover lines "Before the world was created, the Word already existed...".
Or that it's only some sort of technological advancement, either alien or human, but nothing more than that.
On Gantz having a superior, as I pointed out in the correspondet thread, that is plausible but would be awkward, because we have been bound to associate the word to the ball and the guy inside the ball, and that's the name of the manga. It'd be sort of anticlimatic if there was something more that wouldn't be "Gantz". But it's not cut off from possibilities, I'd say.

Gantz could be both. A mythical being created by technological advancement from from an alien civilization.

Yes, but if we consider Gantz as technology being created, then he's nothing more than a tool himself.
But if we consider "the Word" to be related not only to the word itself, but also to the ball/man, then we'd have a "mad god" scenario, in which he answers to no one and do what he does for fun.

All of this would be fair enough if we only knew of that one Tokyo orb, but the fact there are other equals to Gantz makes the point of it being uber high up and God is just not right seeming in my eyes. Plus there is the bigger orb thats the size of a building in Germany. If we're going down a God route, it would be better to relate the Gantz orbs to a pantheon rather than a Jehova God.

^ I partially disagree on that. Although they most likely are different balls due to a) obvious space distinctions b) different manner of speech, considering the superior technology and all, it could be one ball simultaneously in two different spaces. One thing that'd be nice to get this over with is have a look at the human inside the Osakan ball (you know, I have this theory it might be a girl...). But yes, the point of multiple balls does add to the idea of a superior of some sort. I wonder if the Osakans also refer to their ball as "Gantz" (the idea of "the Word" implies it'd be the true name, rather than just a nick come from that old series). And the bigger orb shown by Kikuchi, I always thought that was an hologram or anything of that sort in a stage during some kind of show...

For those that have played fate-stay night, there is the "Tsubame Gaeshi" theory - one Gantz is capable of being everywhere at once by exploiting a time refraction phenomenon
