Tomoe's relief at seeing Naomi and Dino alive was short-lived when she noticed their haggard states. For someone who preferred to lead a closed-in life Tomoe found it ironic that she was so sensitive to other people's moods.
She stiffened some when Naomi hugged her but didn't have the violent reaction she normally did when touched suddenly. In a gesture that surprised her Tomoe placed her hand on top of Naomi's head.
"You look terrible." Tomoe winced at her utter lack of tact. Despite the changes she'd gone through since her first mission she didn't feel any better at dealing with people than before.
"Sorry. I just woke up a few minutes ago so I probably look like hell too. If you're not sleeping well we could rent Seven Samurai again. That seems to knock you out fast."
Tomoe said, referring to Naomi falling asleep while watching it previously.
It felt odd being in her sleepwear comforting someone wearing what was basically a suit of armor.
She excused herself from Naomi loudly placed her bare foot on the black ball close to Dino to shock him out of his trance-like state. He didn't look like he was faring any better than Naomi.
They were friends, despite not knowing them long, but Tomoe admitted to herself that seeing them so vulnerable made her resent them to a degree. It wasn't right. She was supposed to be the vulnerable and scared one.
"What is it, Dino? You smell like a fuckin' distillery." She winced at once again being more blunt and cursing more than necessary. It felt odd swearing at not only a man who dwarfed her by nearly a foot but one she personally saw fight a monster the size of a building.
She placed her hand on the large man's shoulder and said something she never thought she would.
"Let's go out after this. You, me, Naomi, maybe Koi...maybe the noobs if they survive."
It was not only out of character, but not quite possible as she'd either be going out in her suit or her sleepwear and would attract of a lot of attention either way.
It was then that she noticed Andre crouched naked by the black ball.
The whole situation would normally have been embarassing enough to die, but Tomoe had other things on her mind. She made a point not to look at Andre when she spoke.
"Um...some clothes will be here soon. I hope you like black."
Tomoe stepped into the bathroom to change and thought about her two teammates who seemed to be disintegrating. As she dressed she decided that for the first time in her life she would be there to support others instead of depending on them.
"At least my mental problems won't affect what's next."
She stepped out of the bathroom dressed in her suit aside from the shoes which weren't transported as a more determined woman than when she entered.
Brandon suddenly wakes up. He notices that this is like the same room where he was "sent" when he died. He didn't know what the hell he was doing in here.
"(What!? What the hell am I doing in here!?)"
He noticed some people. He remembers those who were last time, like Dino, Naomi and Tomoe. There were some new people included also. This time there were alot of people. Then he stands up and looks around. All this new people looked like they were in a huge shock and didn't know where they were, but Brandon, although it was the second time, he was bit a shocked too, but finally somehow he felt... Like this wasn't bad at all.
Before the transferring, Brandon was in the hospital, cause he catched cold and got hypothermia from outside. He was in critical condition, also in a somesort of "coma", so Brandon doesn't remember everything. Now he is in the room, again, and he waits for the moment when the Black Ball will start tuning the same song as last time...
"(I know that it will happen again... The Ball must open, weapons, suits and everything, and I'll be prepared... I know that I'm still pretty confused, but...)"
Brandon finally understands... Although he can't talk and doesn't remember anything about his past, he knows that he has to put everything he has for this mission.
Naomi smiled brightly at Tomoe, when she mentioned her looking terrible, just as if the girl wanted to reply "Look at yourself".
It felt good to smile, even if it was only for a short time. It might be the last time in my life that I smile...
Tomoe walked away and Naomi decided to get out of her overclothes. She wanted to be ready for what would happen soon. She wanted to participate this time, and to really help. She didn't want to be that close to death again, and if it was at cost of showing her body through the tight suit, than it had to be that way.
After undressing everything with exception of the suit, she looked around in the room and seemed quite surprised now that there were other people. She had been completely focused on Tomoe so that she didn't even notice one of them. There seemed to be seven people who she had definitely never seen before in her life. One man who seemed to stare quite concentrated at the ball had already been there last time. So was the tall black man. Now that she thought about it, she actually never asked him for his name, number or address, though she had given her's without much hesitation.
One of the new people was naked, one wearing a hospital gown; all of them seemed rather confused. And most of them were male. Just one girl was there, lying on the floor, being ignored by everybody else, as they were also ignoring each other.
Naomi couldn't help but feeling somehow reminded of herself, just like she had been when she was brought here last time.
She hadn't really been 'isolated' before the incidents that changed her life. She had been quite talkative and nice. During the last weeks, however, she never opened her mouth when it hadn't been absolutely necessary. But though... She somehow felt that she just had to do something. Maybe in respect of Tomoe's efforts for her, or to help herself going through all this mess in her head. She started walking and kneeled down before her. Her hair was red and cut short. She was quite pretty and seemed to be around her own age. The clothes she wore seemed a little bit strange to Naomi, but it wasn't up to her to judge anything like that.
"Um...", she started quietly, not really knowing how to address this girl. She thought of how Tomoe might make things right, and actually could think of one way this woman would try to get through to her... but Naomi had to admit that she didn't really know enough about Seven Samurai to use it as a base for conversation.
So she had to try something else on her own. It might be the wrong way, but... I don't know what else I can do. And it might be better to get things straight.
"You... You remember dying, don't you?", she whispered at the girl.
"You remember being shot, or falling down some stairs, or lying somewhere with a cut throat. It's something like that, isn't it? I know that you have to be rather confused right now..."
Sean tries again to replay what happen to him but still everything is distorted and blurred. He takes notice of everyone in the room, walks near the large black ball and says aloud "Can I have everyone's attention. I can tell by everyone's faces and you can tell by mine that this is a very strange situation. I can also tell that there are certain people that are not so shocked and surprised. Please if you can explain what the hell is going on." While saying this Sean can feel his eyes looking up and down at Tomoe who is now wearing the suit. He can only think to himself Wow..... her body is perfect. I wonder if she has a boyfriend; i wonder if she likes Americans. Okay Sean get it together stop staring at her like you some lovestruck idiot. But then he thinks to himself why can't i keep my eyes off of her....
When Koi got home after that mission he was caught sneaking in by his parents, and at that point he really didn't care that much since there wa sno real punishment his parents could do to him that would really do anything, until that night. For a whole week, Koi was pushed by his dad to near exhaustion every day he came home, mainly by being forced to run until his dad told him to stop, and do squat jumps until that same requirement was met. It wasnt until the following week that Koi got a chance to practice with the x-gun he took home. Although he wasn't able to use the suit while that torture was put on him, he more than made up for it by trying to figure out what the top trigger did. He wasn't able to improve his accuracy as he was more interested on the top trigger and what it did.
The night of the transfer, Koi was sound asleep, x-gun under his pillow and the suit placed what he thought was a close enough distance. When the chill ran down his spin Koi didn't fully wake up, only attempt to move the free hand not on the x-gun towards the suit, there was no thought process, just calm reaction to waking up, something he made sure he did every day(make sure he grabbed for the suit).
When koi was in the room he didn't fully process it. Just got up, yawned, and walked forward to his "bathroom", only stopping after he trips over the black ball giving a clear "WHAT THE FUCK!?" before realizing where he was. Backing up he looked around, still with the gun in his hand, he tried putting it into his pocket, only to realize, he only had his boxers and shirt on.
(I'll let the dm give a dice roll of fate to see if he was able to move in time to bring the suit.)
Feeling things were getting a little too weird Andre emerges from behind the black ball and ask the girl who spoke "What the hell did you mean by that?". "Is this your place?". "Who the fuck are you people?".
Tomoe found it impossible to look toward the nude Andre and refused to answer his questions because of embarassment. Although Dino was the closest of the experienced people to Andre he didn't seem in the mood to talk to anyone.
She was tempted to give him the shorts she had set aside when he donned her suit but doubted that given her small size they would cover anything.
She cast her eyes down and tried to look around the room for some sort of distraction and noticed Takezo and his bound state. It was almost funny in it's surrealism that he would be the second tied person she freed in two missions, the first being Naomi.
Tomoe pulled at both ends of the ropes and snapped them as she pulled using the strength of her suit and didn't bother to stay around for any thanks or questions.
With the black ball taking up the center and there being so many people this time the room seemed more crowded than it had been leaving privacy no longer an option.
The only benefit was that with so many people close together she would only have to introduce herself one.
She purposely faced away from Andre and tried to gather her thoughts to avoid any of her normal stammering.
"I-I'm Tomoe Shimada."
It seemed appropriate to explain the situation they were now in, but she knew that she could in no way relay the strange reality they now had to face.
She shot a pleading look to Koi who seemed more comfortable in the role of ambassador to the new world these people were about to enter.
It seemed odd and awkward to introduce herself and suddenly sit down, but then her whole life was a string of odd and awkward actions. She sat next to Naomi and Nanami partially to eavesdrop on Naomi's words to Nanami.
Dino stood suddenly.
"Sit the fuck down and be quiet, you little ass." He yells towards Andre in English. "You'll find out soon enough."
He walks over towards Tomoe and the washroom entrance. He pauses before he enters the small hallway and looks towards her.
"My wife died." He pauses for a moment and looks down, then looks back at her. "Don't count on me this time. Just a warning."
He leans against the door frame leading to the hallway and then looks once again towards the ball, staring at it this time with more melancholy than apprehension.
Koi, contemplated wether he should tell them or not. I mean he told the previous people and it didn't make much of a damn bit considering most of them died, quite fast mind you. after a bit he finally stood in the middle of the room, not that embarassed considering the other guy who had nothing on.
"Simply put, you all died. Hell even I died when I first entered here." Thinking again how to word his sentences he continues. "When the time comes, all of us in the room will get a mission, now you have no choice in the matter, you will be...eh... 'participating' if you will. Now the choice to actually do anything or use anything given to you is your choice, but trust me, you will WANT to use what you are given, it will make living all the easier." Koi then takes one last look around the place to see if his suit was transferred in with him.
Sean somewhat chuckled to himself that his plea somewhat fell on deaf ears. But he felt somewhat at ease but at the same time somewhat scared by what the boy said. We all just died.... actually it kinda answers some questions. But what did he mean by participating... Sean plays what the boy said over again in his mind and gets a horrible pit feeling in his stomach. What does he means by "given". What will be given to us and what makes them so damn important...
