"Yawns" - seem to be doing a lot of that lately -
Something to think about Hiryu, from Persona 3 - Two in harmony surpasses one in perfection

While it is, like you said, unrealistic to say Katou will own the boss on his own, what I have been pushing for instead, is that Katou will coordinate something with the Tokyo gantzers and make something happen. Sakata has already shown that Nuri can be pinned down, psychic powers or not. Kaze still has his suit going strong, and HS pars with Izumi in terms of sword play... Reika... well Reika will probably take the opportunity to show some T & A... and Katou is Suicidal enough/has enough goodwill with the team/leadership skill to make it happen. As I have said before, unless something like that happens, the Tokyo team might as well have been sent off hunting onion aliens, rather than to Osaka.
Unless, of course Nuri has already been done in by Oka's l337 Ping Pong skillz... I am really going to laugh my ass off if that happens...
The sensible discussion behind us, let me get this out of the of SYSTEM
I FARKING HATE THIS FARKING ARC WTF HASN'T THAT FAG OKU HAD ENOUGH FUN DRAGGING THIS PIECE OF BULL AROUND FOR MORE THAN ONE AND A HALF YEARS ZOMG FARKING END IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!

Kurono is definitely one of the best Gantzers, but I think a lot of people are placing a little too much focus on his abilities. I think Katou can get very close to Kurono's and Izumi's level once he gets going.

Anyway - No matter how fun it is, I do hope that the Osaka Mission will end next chapter. I'm thinking Nuri will get killed for good next chapter, either by Oka or Katou and hopefully, Oka removes his mask and has some chat with the Tokyo team before the transfer starts. What do you think?

I don't think you are being fair.

Let's look at the situation. Kurono,Kei,Katou and Sei entered the room after Homo and his stalker got killed. Katou got angry and attacked 1000 arms. With no effect because of the regeneration. And then? 1000 spilled acid at Katou and he would've died right there if Kei hadn't jumped in. When she was dissolving Kurono got angry and jumped in to attack 1000 arms, while Sei battled 4 other statues in the room (Katou later had trouble finishing just one). Until Kurono got his leg dissolved and arm cut off. And all Katou was doing all that time was sitting there and crying.

So, yeah. Kurono failed miserably against 1000 arms. But I think it's better to fail while fighting, then to just sit there and do nothing at all.

That Katou was later able to finish 1000 arms was mainly possible because 1000 arms couldn't regenerate anymore. So Sei made his fight a lot easier with that. She also hurt 1000 arms quite a bit (just like the sniper did after her). The second factor for his victory is motivation. He wanted to beat it while Kurono was still alive.

But you are right. Katou will be close to Kurono's and Izumi's level. It just takes time.

But to let him kill Nuri? As much as I want him to get 100 points (to revive Kurono) on this mission (because it's going on for 1 1/2 years already), it would be too soon.

As they should because Kei has since proven himself to be an absolute monster consistently dispite his initial behavorial shortcomings. It takes time as well talent and determination to realistically develop a champion. Just like I wouldn't expect Shion nor Kei to wield the skills necessary to defeat the likes of the Oni boss after completing their third mission, Kato is no different. How you can blame me for my blatant skepticism when Masaru hasn't been given the same opportunities of actual growth in comparison to those two? Though potential and skill isn't something the guy lacks whenever he isn't crying, the odds are against him irrefutably for sure. Especially when facing a boss at least five times stronger than the one he is known for defeating.

Is the idea of him killing the boss unthinkable? Of course not. Thousand Hands, duh.

But... is it highly unlikely given the circumstances? Tch, how couldn't it?

    That's all I'm saying here.
In order to 'acknowledge' the 'irony' I would have to learn two new words today.

    ...

...And I'm not going to do that.

Since we more or less agree on this Katou issue, how about talking a bit about Oka?
We've already seen he's a joker, but is he friendly enough to actually accept possibly uncalled assistance from Katou or any other gantzer? And are we going to see his face or what? Anyone here's betting Oku will leave Oka's face unrevealed?

I for one... do. Most definitely. I even sort of loathe Oku for dangling a line wrapped in hundred dollar bills in front of us by fashioning Oka with a seemingly outgoing personality considering our author's rather methodical approuch when providing a backstory for new characters. Obviously his present level of arrogance and abilities aren't likely to justify any assistance whatsoever at the moment. His suit is barely damaged if actually scuffed at all from an asethetic stand point, he's apparently having a great time, and probably suspects the boss is either dead or dying at the moment. It would be just like Oku to mute Oka and send each team back to their respective balls in the next couple of chapters. Just like him... indeed. =\

A better question is the whereabouts of Izumi's weapon and whether or not Oku plans to address it. >_>

Oh, and assuming the translation as on point (it usually is) then at least we know Oka could very well be an adult since they said they were a former student.

^ About Izumi's weapon, most likely it's been erased from Gantz inventory, since he's now dead.
However, as I mentioned in the faq thread around a week ago, Gantz inventory is renewed every time, even if you take a weapon home. However, so far that only goes for the x-guns, x-rifles and y-guns. We can't be sure about the swords, and the bikes and probably the mecha aren't manageable off-missions.
If by any chance, Gantz keeps all powerful weapons brought into the game, even if the player who orignally owned it is gone, then the most suited to find that out is Nishi in the next chapters. Still, I don't think we're getting a clear answer from Oku on that.

I don't know... Maybe a twist that Oka could be like a handicapped guy. on a wheelchair or something.

Or else he will not be relying on those suits like stuff or correspondce to learn karate?

Okay, Oka is the guy in the ball. He's out!

^ so far that's my favorite Oka theory.

I still think from the ping pong and correspondence lines it sounds like outside Gantz Oka is a nerd. If a guy had much going on in his life I dobut he'd stay in Gantz as long as Oka has.

Someone in one of the first page or two said that Oka Hachirou is the name of some Osakan comedian, and that Oka's lines were like, verbatim of the real Oka, so maybe, Oku asked Oka permission to use him as a character in Gantz unlike the other people in Gantz who look like celebrities but are only based on them appearance wise.
