    Default [WIP] OpenArena Gantz Mod

    Hi there,

im making a xrifle/gantz mod for openarena, what i got so far is a 2-3 seconds delay beetwen the shooting and the impact which is pretty much the mechanics of the x-rifle and also added a "suit" button that makes you run faster and jump higher while pressed.

check out the video, it looks bad but one can get the idea

YouTube - [WIP] OpenArena Gantz Mod

if someone could model the xrifle or the suit for the player model on 3d (blender) that would be awesome.

Openarena is a opensource "version" of Quake 3.

For what I know about the gun, the delay is not between the shooting and the impact, but between the impact and the explosion.

your right, thats what i meant.
It goes kinda like this (in the mod): you shoot, the bullet travel fast to the target, waits 2 seconds then explodes.

And no its not moded from a stars wars game just from the base game of openarena.

I thought it was between shooting and impact?
I'm pretty sure in the green onion episodes when blondy shoots the rifle at the wall
it shows how slow the "bullet" is going...and is very slow, which would explain why its so easy to dodge.
    yaknow?

If you think we're gonna make it,
    Hang on to your self.

It is between the impact and explosion if i remember correctly.

You can hit an enemy, then they can move, but the area they were hit in will receive damage within a few seconds.
I believe this only works properly when you use both triggers. You have to lock on using the X ray.

Looking good from the WIP. I hope you find people to help out.

I know of Half life mods. Not a clue if you can use them though.

umm... I don't really understand how the mechanics of your game engine works, but the easiest way to go about this would be to use a remote bomb type weapon that sticks to a surface, then detonates after a few seconds, as a basis. I know some games have that kind of weapons as part of the default arsenal.
You make the explosive device invisible, and set it so that it freezes in midair when it knocks against something solid rather than sticking to it, and set the explosion type to invisible... that should do it... I think. But again, I have absolutely no idea how the mechanics of this game engine works so...

thats pretty much how it works, its kinda of a sticky bomb but i didnt make the explosions invisible, but they should be now i think about it.
The game engine is the ioquake engine wich is a GPL (opensource) version of the quake 3engine.

umm... problem is the sticky bomb sticks with players... you shoud be able to change that, so that when player moves the bomb stays there - it should have something to do with the stop with collision command... yawn, my programming days are so far behind me though, i can't even remember how a command string like that would look... o.O
but then again, it seems like you already figured that out...
