    Default Gun re-model, opinions?

I'm going to risk getting yelled at and chop up a link to make this post. I'm sorry I just don't have that much to say and would rather not clutter other threads trying to fill out another 8 posts.

So I got the urge to model a new version of the gun tonight. Took me all evening but I think it's good enough to show around. I wanted to do this in case I ever get the urge to do a complete image with characters and everything.

    (http goes at the beginning)

Like I said, it's not supposed to be a copy of the original, but I thought I'd ask for opinions. Too many details, too few? Is that organic piece on the top clashing? I don't know if you can see it, but yes the two light emitters are built to extend back in, and I changed the x-ray screen so that it flips up when used and lays flat when not.

Hmmm, first I thought you're a weirdo, but it looks really interesting:

Good work; What program did ya' use?

There's a thread for Gantz_weapon ideas on another forum:

Well I did spend a whole night modeling a comic book weapon.

    The program is cinema 4d.

And I'm not into rp (which is too bad because there are so few gantz forums as it is), but if you are, feel free to use the image.

Thanks for the image post btw.

Looks too flimsy—those projections are just aching to get banged against something and destroyed. The other issue is that the grip looks uncomfortably angular and thin—it's hard (for me at least) to properly judge scale, but it makes my hand kinda hurt thinking about using it for a prolonged period of time.

very nice modeling-- i'm a big fan of c4d and just got a copy of vray for it... looks like you used AR with Ambient Occulusion? correct?

i would suggest playing with the scale and put a hypernurbs on the grip.

Geh, didn't get back here for so long.
There's AO in there, but I'd be surprised if that's what you're seeing. It's mostly the 4 surrounding lights.

Added another track to the arm for a little strength, and altered the hilt slightly. I didn't want to touch the handle too much, I think the original is pretty un-ergonomic and have always thought that was it was part of gantz' sadist ways to make all his tools/suits that way.

    Thanks again for the input.

^ Ya' always welcome carv. Remember that you need 10 posts to write links, and use www.imageshack.us to show images.

I like this little Gantz thread way more then those boring other ones, shows a bit more idea. Trying to make some alternative weapons with 4d too. Currently making some gantz_tank, with the tank_model from Tron. And I wanna create a white gantz_suit (10 times stronger than the black one), but have to use more capability in that...

If ya' have new ideas show them to us.

You can't see it but this has the new details... (add http again)

...I was thinking about making a fan comic or doujinshi or whatever you want to call it. But this one alone was so much work I'm kind of re-evaluating that. I don't have assistants like hiroya does.

That is very awesome. Depending on what has to be done. You might be able to assemble a team online.
