The Gantzers are much more powerful then they realize....

Even now, they don't do all the things they could to fight better. I remember so many times when they had an open shot with the x-guns and just freaking stood there.
For example. When they were fighting the Giant Buddha, after one shot Kurono just gave up. If he just said "Hey! you 4 people! come over here and don't stop shooting at his ankles until he falls down! the battle would have been much easier. Also, I've seen them actually get up close with the sword. They have the ability to stand back about 390 feet and swing, yet they walk right up to an alien and try to attack. They do other stupid stuff, like in the Screaming bird arc. They tried to hug the aliens to death? What is that! Why don't they just punch through their skulls! Or at least punch them into a wall and them shoot them while they're stunned.... Do you guys know what I mean? And do you agree with me? I mean, if I was in a Gantzer's (like Kurono) place (with no previous knowledge, like them) I would have gotten 100 points 3 times by now. |

Weren't the gantzers in the buddha mission trying to kill other shit, and if not they weren't momentarily looking at the buddha statue cause it's so fucking huge. So it would be best if they wipe out everything else and then try to destroy it, but hey, Kurono killed it kick ass anyway so why the complaint.
And remember to be a good gantzer doesn't need only brain but skill, and don't think the suit and guns automatically make you have skills. Erm, you waving a long ass sword around, the alien will just dodge it wince no matter how strong you are it'll be difficult to be waving around the place. And never say the "Screaming bird Arc" again. Considering either one of the punching in the skull or hugging makes you get close to them the suit should be out in no time. Ok... do you understand how ridiculously hard it would be to swing a 390 ft sword (I realize its an exaggeration, but even 15 feet would be damn near impossible to maneuver/lift..), Assuming they could even manage to move it with their suits, theyd still only be able to swing down or sideways (just like sanosuke and his zanbato)
Im pretty sure Kurono claimed the giant buddha out of pride and didnt want anyone to interfere, but its been awhile. And no, you wouldnt have gotten 100 pts 3 times, you wouldve pissed yourself scared and died on the first mission. ^^;; |

I'd say that Reika and the old man are only semi-good compared to the Osakans and that they kick ass compared to the cannon fodder that Gantz has chewed up and spit out on other missions.
I think that they're about on par with the three sadists. Sure, everyone on the team could improve but I think part of the charm of the Gantz manga is that people do stupid stuff and get killed or at least maimed for it. |

Sorry I said "Screaming bird arc", I know it sounded stupid but I didn't know the "official" name of the arc and I was too lazy to look it up when I posted, haha.
Abut about the sword....remember how Izumi fought the vampires in the train? He extended the sword and swiped it, killing around what.....10 at once? If that thing was hard to swing, and slow, the vampires (with their heightened agility and reaction) would have ducked it. And yes, you could only swing it sideways and downwards, but why not do a feetswipe, which would make the enemy jump (or it would just cut off the legs) then slice them in the air, while they're incapable of moving? The teamwork is pretty bad too.....remember the huge dinosaur with a bladed head? The head and neck moved fast, but not at the base of the neck. If the team put 4 shots into the neck, it would have taken off the entire thing, or at least slow it down greatly. |

I've got good comebacks for all your complaints.
The buddha arc had the gantzers trying to keep people from getting stomped on by the giant buddha, and thanks to gantz's spectacular sense of humor a spiritualist of some kind which split the gantz team in half by making them think they were in some kind of pergatory where you don't have to fear death or some such bullshit. Thus reducing their strength. So far before this current arc the only person I ever saw using a sword was Izumi, as you do have to have skill to even swing around a regular sword, even more so if it can grow exponentially. In the so called "screaming bird" arc, the one who had the bright idea of squeezing them was Katou since he'd rather restrain the aliens than kill them. Although, I will admit that their teamwork sucks. But these guys aren't trained soldiers. What do you want/

Factor in gaint aliens and life or death situations as out of the world as Gantz, it'd give any team a troublesome time with communications. Kei is a brave ass SOB when he's in the zone. Imagine a regular person in that situation. Considering the fact that no one on earth is used to seeing creatures created in the Gantz mangas, the group did a great job staying calm to say the least. In reality if people were to see a dinosaur with razor head they'd run around everywhere screaming "GODZILLA!"

@cancelok
Izumi is an exception and shouldnt be considered under the normal team because he can already wipe out all of them at a time except maybe kurono. He was the pinnacle of the Tokyo group having both prior experience (even if he cant remember it completely, the experience still exists in his subconscious so he can still fight based off his great instincts). And even with his phenomenal use of the sword, hes dead. Not to mention, other than the boss, those vampires are pretty pathetic. One thing they could do to actually improve themselves is learn to turn invisible, not sure why they dont even think about that -_- |

Why would you want all the players to be good? The manga would suck incredibly if the teams consist of a dozen Kuronos and Izumis. I actually want some character development, and you also forget most of the players are not natural born killers, so you can't always expect them to use common sense when an alien appears randomly.
