Thread: The Gantz RP: Prologue

Immediately after being teleported into the room, Saigo rushed off to the washroom.

While wiping his ass in the washroom he talked to himself in a quiet tone. “Ah, I'm so glad this place at least has a washroom. If there hadn't been one, I would've been screwed; it’s a pretty nice washroom too. I mean, who would’ve imagined a dumpy apartment like this one could have such a nice washroom. Ah, all done.” Now turning around he unlatches the door and walks out without washing his hands.

Turning the corner into the main room, Saigo notices a boy sitting near the black ball. Hmm, I wonder if someone has told him what’s going to happen tonight.

Now switching his focus to Koi, Saigo approaches him with a question. “Have the new people been told what’s going to happen tonight?”

Tomoe looked over at Naomi who looked at her. All she really wanted was her coat back and to be left alone until it was time for the hunt.
As a cruel joke on part of the universe an inordinate amount of Tomoe's friends or family had been victims of sexual abuse and every time she naively thought the next time would be easier to calm someone down.

She sat two feet to Naomi's left while unhostering her x-gun for comfort and resting it in her lap. It then dawned on her that having a gun in her lap probably wouldn't promote comfort in Naomi so she set it down.

As always she didn't know how to start a conversation unless it involved movies.
"Did you know that in Seven Samurai all of the arrows shot were real? The actors had to wear these wooden blocks to keep from getting killed. You remind me of the character Katsushiro. He spends most of the movie intimidated but becomes a fierce fighter at the end."

Tomoe pointed to Saigo. "He'd be Kyuzo. Definitely Kyuzo." She then pointed to Koi. "Koi...Heihachi, I think. Maybe Kikuchiyo. I don't know the others enough to equate them with one of the others."

"By the way, I'm Tomoe Shimada. No relation to Kambei Shimada from the movie. If you don't want to give your name I can just call you 'Katsu'."
She felt that her skills as a movie otaku were of no use and reminded herself to be quiet.

"huh? oh Yeah I tried giving them a general explination as to what is going on, but I didn't tell them everything. So far only person I know is that guy" he says pointing to the man he had just explained everything to, "but everyone knows that at least they died before getting here, that the ball is going to open up and make them play something like a game. I figured they would calm down fast enough if they knew it was a game for now. I was going to tell them that they may very well die again from the monsters that we have to hunt. Though I must sadly say the thought of using the rest as cannon fodder for us crossed my mind, I doubt we would live very long that way, considering we almost died last time. Still I don't think your clone over there is going to believe this until she sees it." motioning to the woman Tomoe made reference to earlier.

Actually, it somehow helped. It really did. Listening to this woman talking about something as normal as a movie, comparing persons in this room with characters from it, was strange. Maybe because of that, and because of the pressure of her memories, Naomi laughed. Very soft, and even less than half-hearted, but she laughed. Possibly, she only did to comfort and relieve herself that 'the three of them' hadn't killed every bit of happiness in her. It wasn't much, but she felt less dead than she did before. Back in the bathroom, seeing her face in the mirror, she realised that she was alive. But she also felt, that she didn't feel. It was as if everything inside her would have been replaced with cold air. She knew, that there was a gaping hole, but she couldn't reach. But now, she felt herself throwing a small stone into the hole. She couldn't even hear it hitting the ground, and it was obvious that it would need billions of small stones to fill it, but it was a first step. And at least there was somebody who talked to her. She smiled sadly and whispered, loud enough for Tomoe to hear it: "It fits. I am what Katsushiro would be alike if he was a woman. At first a fierce fighter and then..." Naomi felt as if one of the wooden blocks the actors in Seven Samurai wore had just slid into her stomach. She dropped the sentence. She just couldn't finish it. She wasn't ready. She couldn't spend the first few sentences she spoke after it was over, completely over, talking about what happened. She had to regain... what? What did she lose back there? Her courage? Her happiness? Her virginity? Her life? Did she lose one of them? No, she didn't. She lost all of them together. Her face turned pale and again she shivered slightly, still smiling sadly. She just didn't want to think about it anymore. Not now. But somehow she knew that she couldn't stop it. She wasn't able to wipe the sad smile off. "I'm Naomi Kimamoto. I'm pleased to meet you. I really am." She looked down to herself and noticed that she still had the coat on. "Oh, I'm sorry." She took it and held it within the woman’s reach. "Thank you for untying me and..." She didn't want to think further, so she ended: "...and everything."

Tomoe embarassedly mumbled something resembling a: "you're welcome".
She looked down at her coat and up at Naomi. "You can hold onto it. If the worst thing that happens tonight is a bunch of guys staring at my ass I'll consider myself lucky."
She picked up her x-gun and held her sword in her opposite hand and sat down further away from Naomi but still within speaking distance should she feel like it.

She shook her head. "No, I'm not cold. It's okay. You can have it back. I'm very grateful that you helped me." She lay it on the floor and put her arms around her knees. After a short while, she started: "We can't leave, can we? Nobody would stay here, if they hadn't to, would they?" Naomi didn't pay attention before to what others were saying while she was still in the room, and then she left to the bathroom. She looked around, hesitated and then: "May I ask you something? I... I feel alive. I can feel my body, but... I remember being killed... So..." She hesitated again and whispered: "Is this hell?" She didn't blush. It wasn't a joke. She was deadly serious and, by the looks of it, afraid of the possibility that she may have guessed right.

"Hell? I don't believe in that, so you're asking the wrong person. Just like life in general, no one knows why we're here, really. All that I know is that soon that ball will start singing and open up. We pick up our suits and weapons and then start hunting aliens. If you kill an alien and survive you get points. Don't ask what they do because I have no idea.
The important thing is that you survive. Koi and Saigo are strong and Koi's especially protective of women. He might be good to stick with."

Tomoe kneeled down in front of Naomi. "Like I said, they're samurai, you're samurai. Me, I'm Rikichi. I'm one of the farmers being protected by everyone else. I don't think I can protect you."

"What?! The music already started! That means we don't have much time until the teleportation process begins! So, why aren't the other survivors from the last mission here already?!" No, I can't think about them right now. I should be focusing on the people that need this stuff explained.

Saigo turned and walked away from Koi so that he was facing everyone in the room. "I need everyone’s attention right now! You've all been summoned here after death by that black ball to participate in a game. If you survive, you can go back home as if you never actually died. However, if you die during the game you'll be gone for good. So, I suggest everyone that wants to live stick with either myself, Koi or Tomoe..."

“The objective of this game is to track down and kill an alien life form. To kill the alien life form, we'll need to use this equipment…” Saigo points to the rack of guns and the door, which leads to the swords and bikes.

"Ah, our target is appearing on the black balls surface!"


"Your lives have ended. How you use your new lives is entirely up to me. That's the theory, anyways."

IC: "Everyone grab some equipment before the teleportation process begins!"

Tomoe first made her way into the room containing the monocycle and swords and attained two swords. The three unextended swords clanged in her coat pocket as she walked to Gantz to selected one of each of the guns. While the only weapon she had previously killed two aliens with was the sword Tomoe decided to increase her versatility.
With each of the smaller guns in the holsters on her legs, Tomoe carried the x-rifle over her shoulder and stopped before Naomi and dropped one of her spare swords in front of her.
"Go change into your suit and I'll teach you to use that."

Koi calmly walks to the rack of guns, and takes another handgun to place in his holster. Now content with having two he calmly walks back pointing to the room with the swords and the bike saying "That room is now open, and you can find a few swords in there, and a bit of privacy for changing, as well as the hallway there. I suggest you hurry, in a timely manner."

With that he turns to Saigo and gets within whispering distance to him. "I think there may be more rules to this than just live through it all then come back later. I think whatever rule it is the others broke."
