I think she was meant to be a test of sorts. I don't now. The Anime plot is shit on the most part.

Well you can kill as Nishi proved, but you can't open doors or use cell phones.

On the next page Katou says "Even if you kill everyone in here as long as that black ball remains he humans will stay alive". The only way for that statement to not be contradictory is if Katou is pointing out that they CAN be killed in the room, but Gantz will bring them back anyway. Actually, he even states that on the next page.

Don't let Katou's words confuse you. Chances are, it was most likely a bluff to get HS and Chigusa to stop attacking and for both sides to cooperate with each other. Katou should know people can die in the room since he's seen Nishi blow a guy's head off before the Tanaka mission began. Either he's very stupid or ignorant by saying that or he's quite thoughtful; I think it's the latter.

Not even them, so much—I support the idea of it being basically a bluff, but it's mostly true. The people the vampires kill will stay dead, but a new crop of Gantzers will get "recruited" and the vampires will have done relatively little.

Which isn't actually true, they'll have wiped out people much stronger than average, but they don't know that.

I think he was reffering to the fact that even if they get killed, that people can bring eachother back to life via Gantz by winning 100 points
