Thread: Is kurono that great?

CUZ KURONO IS D4 SH17!!11!!!!1!

No really...
He is powerful, he learned to use his suit very well
Helps others but not in a stupidly annoying super-altruistic way
He's funny (I loved the "Want to have sex?" with Lara Croft)

Overall likeable character.
I liked the character from the beginning when he didn't give a shit about others.

So, yeah. I wanna have his babies.

Think about his experience in Gantz. Not only did it at one point kill off everyone he liked (Kishi, Katou, Sae, Tae), but it probably gave him some pretty disturbing nightmeres. Plus, he has been a slave to this sadistic ball for about a year. why in the world would he not take the chance to become free. The only reason to stay would be because of the others (Old man, Reika, etc...) but they urged him to go, and in addition, Katou being back for leadership, and Nishi for information, assured him that they would be okay. I think he'd be dumb to stay in the room, or still be the same kurono from the Buddha mission.

I hardly even know. It's been about a year since he's been in any action and i read much of the earlier chapters.

He didn't know that there would be people hunting him. If he knew that I doubt he would have left. At least then he could continue to wear the suit in real life and protect himself instead of being a sitting duck with no memory.

i agree, he had no reason to think the vamps even knew he was a 'hunter' when he and Izumi were attacked for the first time, the vamps completely ignored Kurono like he wasnt even there, if the vamps were to attack both Kurono and Izumi at that time, then i dont think he would have left, thus still be alive.

Kurono leaving Gantz was completely out of character. I thought we all agreed on that.

I don't think Kurono was being out of character when he left the room. He never asked to be there nor did he exactly enjoy seeing people die or hunting aliens. The only reason why he put up with Gantz after the Chibi mission was because of Tae. Why would he stay in that room anyways when the purpose of his motivation to do well was to revive Tae and leave?

Kurono is not really obligated to saving lives or revive the deceased. Kishimoto is not very useful compared to Reika in missions. Bringing back Sei would ultimately destroy his relationship with Tae. He was practically peer pressured into leaving, which ironically got him killed.

He swore he would revive Kishimoto, Katou, and Tae. He didn't finish the job.

As you may recall, prior to Gantz, Kurono was a complete jackass. He was a loser, and his life was pretty shitty. Gantz changed him; he became a leader. In Gantz, he had value. He was no longer a loser, and he was a good person. Kurono knew this.

By leaving, he sacrificed his memories of Gantz. In other words...he returned to what he was before. He would have known that would happen. He would also have known he would forget Tae, considering the significant role Gantz played in their relationship.

By leaving, Kurono was giving up Tae, his friends, and even his personality. He would have known that would happen. It was completely out of character for him to leave. Oku simply did it to advance the story because, frankly, Oku isn't a very good writer.

Send that to oku, and make him re write and re draw, the last freaking chapters, cause without kurono, this series is pretty lame.

That's an interesting opinion. I agree with most of your points except for the last one about Oku not being a good writer. All the hardships Gantz made Kurono experience made him a better person no doubt, however Kurono was still a bit selfish in the end. Kurono would probably attempt to live a normal life with Tae rather than risk his life trying to save two more girls. Clearly he doesn't care about them as much or he would have stayed.

I definitely agree that Kurono sacrificed his personality and his friends, but I don't think he gave up on Tae. As some of you may recall, he admitted his life was empty without Tae in the illusionary chapter. I think Kurono made a risky gamble when he chose option 1, because I think he was counting on remembering some things and the same with Tae as well. Nishi did say Gantz is a half-ass guy and Izumi remembered a few things. If the vampires didn't attack Kurono, he would still be alive and probably with Tae in a happy ending.

As for Oku's writing, I'll judge that when he finishes Gantz. Can't deny that guy knows how to use plot devices, even used his own main character as a plot device to bring in HS (which was the best idea imo). So far the story is going pretty good don't you think?
