The Gantz RPG signup thread
Before we start, I would like to say I had nothing to do with the creation of this game and its rules. As so, I deserve absolutely zero credit for its creation.
After reading all of the past Gantz RPG's, I have decided to add in the rules from the past ones for a better understanding of the game.
1)When posting an action during your turn, I'll be the one who tells the result of that action. For example, if you write
"I lifted my fist and threw a punch at the alien."
and i would write "(YOUR NAME) threw a punch at the alien and knocked it to the ground with a bleeding nose."
I could instead write
"(YOUR NAME) attempted to punch the alien, but the alien grabbed hold of (YOUR NAME)'s fist before it make contact and punched (YOUR NAME) back with its free hand, sending (YOUR NAME) to the ground."
As you can see, I'll the people who determines the probility of the success rate of your actions. Life is full of surprise and my job as the mod is to bring you these surprises.
2)Please don't double post for action unless you're just walked around or talking.
3)Use "OOC:" for Out Of Character chat, but please reframin from posting too many comments here. Use "IC:" for In Character chat. I'll be using this function to broadcast events in the mission and update. It's also for distinguishing my OOC comments and the IC comments.
People have been using this wrong. You only need to use OOC once in the beginning or the end of your post if you have something you want to say to everyone or the mod in the game. You only need to use IC once to tell us that whatever you type after "IC" would be the actions and words you character does or say. If you're not sure, watch my post.
5)Use as much description in your action and everything involved in the mission. The more descriptive you are with your actions, the more accurate I can determine the outcome of your actions.
6)If you're posting with a nickname please make it clear before you use it.
7)Post as if you're writing a book.
Also, keep in mind that as Host I generate the NPCs (non-player characters) and enviroments. This type of thing is unacceptable for someone playing as, say, Mike:
Mike was walking down the street when ten ninjas showed up and started fighting him. He quickly beat them up and then called a taxi, getting inside, the driver staring angrily at him.
No, no, no. You just control your character. Not the NPCs, not the environment, and never control the actions of another person.
Don't speak in first person (Like “What do I see?”) or anything:
I walk down the street and look around the corner. what do I see
Joey walked down the street, turning to look around the corner.
As for distinguishing thought, speak, and action, there's no real formulated book of rules. Just make sure they're distinguished. Personally, I just put speech in quotations and thought in italics:
Michael smiled, winking at Lucy.
Boy, I hope she doesn't know I killed her dog.
"Hi, Lucy, what's up?"
Gantz has a rather mysterious and dark storyline that has yet to reveal all of its secrets.
To summarize it basically, as I won't be copying everything but using Gantz instead as inspiration, it begins with the recently dead.
People who were killed, say in a car crash or train accident. But instead of dying, they wake up out of unconsciousness and find themselves in a small apartment room outside Tokyo Tower.
They discover there is no way to get out through the windows and front door, and that the room is also full of plenty of other people with similiar near-death experiences.
At one end of the room is a featureless black sphere we later learn is called "GANTZ". After a short amount of time, postwar Japanese exercise radio begins to play from the sphere. By way of green text that appears on the surface of the sphere, GANTZ informs those present that their lives have ended. The following words appear on the black sphere's surface: "Your lives have ended. What you do with your new lives is entirely up to me. That’s the theory, anyway."
You soon find out that this sphere, this GANTZ, is enslaving you, sending you on missions to destroy queer and often supernational creatures inside the very environments of Tokyo.
1.) Remember, this is modern, present era. Keep them realistic, and hopefully detailed, just regular Joes and Janes. No mega ninjas or giant robots.
2.) Make them Japanese characters. This takes place in Japan. However, it could be an American or foreign tourist I suppose, but those should be rare.
Please follow the template below for making your character. I will only approve of your character if you follow the template.
Appearance: (PICTURES ARE GOOD)
Items: (Start with none)
Death: (How your character "died" before they were transported to the room.)
Before making your character, make sure that you have carefully read over this guide and understand the basic's of role-playing.
I would like to start this RPG with at least ten people.

Final Note: If you're not playing or don't want to play, please don't post here and ruin other people experience. It's rude and distracting, so please don't it. Thank you.
