Thread: Izumi vs. Sakurai and Sakata

You know, I was just musing and reading old Gantz chapters...
I was just thinking, honestly in the Kill Tae mission, couldn't the two Psychics have owned Izumi? I mean, he stands there in front of them stationary for a good amount of time...
They could've easily used their powers to strike at his organs, either killing or if they were too goody goody, debilitating him...
"Dodge it with our super reaction"?!?!?! Why the hell are you even coming up with something so lame? Just freaking stop his heart! They had plenty of time to do that...

They're so intent on killing him, but instead of using their usual moves they go, "LOL Let's 'super dodge' and aimlessly shoot at him."
Then, as they're getting owned they're like, "WAIT REMEMBER, WE'RE PSYCHICS! LOL! LETS USE IT NOW IN THE MIDST OF BATTLE WHEN WE'RE AT DISADVANTAGE"
And Izumi goes, "I'll decapitate you if you do that again."
They could've just done it instantly together in like five seconds at the start of the battle instead of "super reaction".

If they'd just used their usual moves, he'd be dead in seconds. Izumi's skills are a bit overrated. I'm pretty sure Insane Fury Kurono could beat his ass (Which is why it's lame that Kurono hesitated before pulling the trigger when Izumi was right behind the door, giving Izumi the chance to shoot out his katana...since when does Kurono have doubts about killing Izumi, especially when it's to protect Tae? Pull the goddamn trigger!)

Their powers do seem to have a somatic component for some actions (i.e. crushing motions to destroy the dinosaur hearts).

It could just be that they couldn't do something like that fast enough.

1) same reason why "good" never loses to "evil" (most of the times anyway)... cuz it wouldn't make much sense story-wise
2) point of the story was for tae to die and for the readers (excluding me) to feel sad
3) out of sakurai and sakata... sakata is the only one who'd kill a human. sakurai (minus the bully incident) doesn't come across as a person who'd kill another human being... so does kurono

Except don't they both basically go "Well, he's fighting for real, let's fight back for real too..."
But instead of using their psychic powers to kill him for real, they prance around with their guns.
As for the somatic element of their powers...well, Izumi was standing in front of them for a good ten seconds, and they had the time to do all those super reactions and gun pointing and shooting. They could've just used their psychic powers instead. I mean, they friggin'd dodged raptors and crap doing that.

But yeah, obviously it's for the story...it just seemed kind of irking that the psychics were pushovers and didn't really use their...psychic abilities wherein they could've easily taken out Izumi.

They overthought in that situation. I guess you could say that they weren't sure what to do whether to kill him or just attack.

They hesitated because he was a teammate

I think they could have beaten him, but there's no way they would have in that situation...they hesitated too much.

If it was a match between them, Izumi would really win because he wouldn't hesitate to kill them and his fighting skills is advanced as only Kurono can rival him.

They could have killed him also when Izumi was on his killing rampage... If only Sakurai had tried to kill him while Sakata kept stopping the bullets, instead of letting him do all the work...
