Thread: Do you think GANTZ could work as a live action movie?

the rating would be R21 or R(A) for sure becuz of the unmeasurable violence and sexual content. furthermore the storyline need time to grow and the CGI
will be tough to create

It would be an extremely violent prono.

It dosn't matter how violent or how much sex is in the film. Since it would only be released in japan. With the option to buy online with sub. So bring on the guns and orgies!

You wouldn't necessarily have to buy it...

It doesn't have to have porno in it, I mean in the BR (books and comics) they had a lot of porno, but the first movie did pretty well without it. The movie also did well with out that much blood.

Anything is possible.

But I don't think they could fit that many missions into one movie, or else it'd be better off as a live action series. Therefore, a side mission would be more appropriate. Maybe an alternate ending (?).

Yeah, it could be possible... considering Blade... etc.... Dinos would be easy to make.... Due to the mechanical technology today.... Yeah, the monsters would be hard to recreate... Theyd most likely CGI it..... But if they were the create a multi-functional costume( Underworld.... LYCANS!!!!!!!!!) Then that'd be suhweet.

CGI! Hell no man. Claymation is so in now. Teh diamond in da rough i tell ya!


But if they do make a movie about it it'll probably be a trilagy (the story is just to big for 1 movie). That will have an ending worse than the matrix. If that's even posible (It can't be right?)

I dont think it would be too weird to have Dinosaurs talking. There are plenty of weirder movies out there. Such as.

The City of Lost Children
Very funny mad scientist story about a family of clones that kidnap children so they can record their dreams for one of their members. Wild sets and courageous children who fight off the freaks with the aid of a circus giant.

Wicked City
Attractive monsters interbreed with humans to create misunderstood hybrids, while a special squad of police elite hunt down and destroy the more malignant clan members.

But on saying that i dont believe that it would make a good Live Action Movie. The story would have to be redone so as to make the movie flow much better (not good) and also it is too long to make in a single movie. Even with multiple movies it still wouldnt be worth it as it is much better as Anime. It just wouldnt be worth it.

It could be done, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were. However, they would probably have to do some major compression. It could turn out with just as many changes if not more as Battle Royale. BR was a good movie, but far too much was cut out.

Regardless, I'd love to see a Miike-directed Gantz film.

Get that director, yeah.

Or maybe not. Though Gantz is graphic and strange, the actual plot developement is not too wacky

It would work as a movie, as long as Japanese people make it, (or maybe a Hong Kong director) with Asian cast


as for a suicide ending... nah, I don't think that would work. Kurono changes because he has the will to live, yeah? I think a way to end it would be like... after Buddha mission, show the aftermath, some other stuff, then end the movie with Kurono being phased back into Gantz. Leaves room for a sequal without being completely open.


Next movie: Open with dinosaur fight. Dinosaurs are scary.

I belive they can make it work if they made a Kekko Kamen(the naked superhero) in to a live action they can with gantZ and if they use a team that made matrix better
