Default How did you stumble upon Gantz

I often wonder how people discover the not-well-exposed mangas, animes, music, or any form of art thats not woven into the mainstream.
American manga-market is mostly aimed towards Shoujo, since the corporate big-heads think it would be a bad decision to make little boys read, and turn their heads away from the TV. So reading any worthwhile manga will most likely come off the net.

So how did you stumble upon Gantz? What ever led you to read it?

For me, it was when i visited the Band of the Hawks' scanlations site, after a recommendation to read BERSERK. Since they used to scanlate Gantz i also began reading it, and through a DL link it led me to the StopTazmo forums, of which i ve been a member since.

I was randomly downloading first chapters of mangas at stoptazmo, trying to find something new to read.
Since the plot seemed interesting and the drawings were different than others manga I read, I gave it a try. Ended up reading the whole series.

i was DLing from some sites like snoopycool, toriyamaworld, when i stumbled upon it on Omanga.net. I thought omanga was caught up with the series until i found like 20 volumes by shocwave which i then got off irc. I was hooked after the first chapter. Its so different from most mangas i read.

someone recommended it to me for the gratuitous amount of violence and large breasts.... I've been in love with it ever since.

I was actually looking for more FMA and found stoptazmo when it was fairly new and simpler. After I finished all the current chapters of FMA since it was next in the alphabet and have been hooked ever since.

Here, from way back as you can see, when Omanga would do this.

First I saw the anime and wondered if it had a manga counterpart. I searched and I am glad I found it.

    Good questions,

someone recommended me, but the manga already reached to the part where Tae got killed, so I was really behind, but happy because I don't have to wait for the next new chapter every time.
Then after I catched up with everyone, I looked for the anime....Lol I was so addicted.

Cooler mentioned GANTZ somewhere in a "recomend me a manga"-thread and because I already had read almost everything else on his list, it felt like a good idea to start GANTZ ...

Yes, it's your fault cooler, thanks btw

I read a report about it in a magazine called Animania. Some month later I saw the 5th volume of Gantz at a shop in a train station. I remembered the report about it and the way it catched me. Later on, I bought the first volume at amazon. Some time later, I have collected the first 5 episodes that were released in Germany. I found the fourth volume at a market where they sell some of their old things^^. Then i was REALLY sad that I couldnīt get more volumes in Germany. So I googled around and found someting that was called scanlations. Then I found the side baka-updates. From there I found shocwaves side. I was so amazed and was looking forward to go on reading. But because I was a noob in the past, I didnīt know how to use torrent links. So, somehow, I found stoptazmo.com. When the time began, when you had to log in to download I decided to join the forum.

So...now Iīm here. Very interesting story, eh? -.- <.< xD
