Thread: Gantz Fan Sites & information?

Are there any Gantz fan sites in English? You can find Naruto sites everwhere & Bleach sites are popping up like crazy now, but Gantz sites are nowherere to be seen (except in French).

I don't want to learn French to be a fan of a Japanese Manga. That's silly.

Edit: This is kind of a side note. But I just read this month's PLAY magazine & there is a 1 page "article" about Gantz in there. I didn't know it, but the Anime is being released in English. Only 2 episodes per volume but it appears to be the uncut version with all the gore intact. Can anybody confirm or deny?

Oh, and the reviewer gave it 3.5 out of 4 stars. Everybody keeps saying how crappy the Anime is but maybe I'll try to find a place to rent it from...

Or download it from the net. I'm pretty sure a DVD rip will pop up on hong fire. But the 2 episodes per DVD is crappy too.

yea 2 episodes WTF it was the same way with FLCL and countless others - -that rele pisses me off. the anime boom has already hit america there is no need to take advantage of us like this!

That's because the first season is only 11 episodes long. Also, I'm sttarting up a site, www.gantz7.com. It'll be up around May.

I got a couple of free passes to Wondercon today (I live in san Francisco) The Suncoast booth had the first 2 DVDs for sale for 19.95 each (4 episodes). They arent coming our till next month, but stuff comes out @ conventions early i guess. I passed because everyone keeps saying they suck. But I picked up the free postcard (advertising) and the slogan for the DVDs is:

UNCUT VERSION!
THE VERSION TOO GRAPHIC FOR JAPAN!

Sounds kinda promising. Maybe the stuff that was missing is why it sucked. The guy at the booth was really trying to sell me on it. He left out the fact there was only 2 epps per DVD until I asked. He also left out the bad reviews that all the Manga readers have been giving it (he probably didn't know about those though). And he kept telling me all about the "fan service" added to this version. He was REALLY selling it. Hopefully one of the alternative rental places around here will have it soon. I can wait though.

i say....don't worry about what all the manga-readers are saying about the anime.....the ONLY problem that i see with it is.....is that they had to cut it short and change the story to end it...which didn't give a very good ending (not ALL that bad, but coulda been better, but maybe they did that cause it would almost force people to read the manga, thus increasing their sales and benefitting them greatly!except for all us moochers (i occasionally buy some DVD's and manga....))

now...if you don't mind spending $40 and have it on DVD instead of just !!!***DOWNLOADING IT FOR FREE***!!!...ahem....then go ahead and buy them....i wouldn't do it.....cause i don't have $40 to throw around at DVD's and what-not....

go here http://www.torrentspy.com and search for gantz. Change ur search options in "preferences" which is right under the search box, to list it by name so that you can ingore all the manga torrents and go for the anime, they have up to episode 8 (except for 5) un-cut available, they say in their title which ones are the DVD-Uncut


oh and.....(side note), ignore the episodes 1-13 from KoGa, they're just raws, unless ofcourse you know japanese (but even then, they haven't fully uploaded it all, only about 50% of it is done, so you would have to wait probobly another month to be able to download it)

Thanks for the info. it's great advice for almost everyone except me. I'm online with a 56k modem & my fiance/roomate would kill me if I tied up our phoneline all day/night (and we're on a TIGHT budget). Hell, we don't even have cable.

I'll think about the Gantz a little more. I'm gonna stop by the convention to see Kevin Smith & Joss Whedon on my way to the Chinese New Year's Parade. Maybe I'll buy it. Maybe not. But thakns for the advice nonetheless.
