I read on tv.com that the anime has already finished, so i was wondering how it ends and how it explains the whole story of gantz (like who gantz is, why they fight aliens etc.)

100% super crazy awesome!
It doesn't explain a damn thing. That's about it.
a let down
Yeah, it doesn't explain anything. Instead of explaining anything they just have Gantz and everyone associated with Gantz cease to exist for no apparent reason. (Or die.) That's it. The End.
Although, some people have speculated that the anime version of Gantz is trying to say that all the Gantz stuff is in Kei's imagination, and that he just made it up in his last few moments alive after (or just before) being hit by the train.
jesus, another anime thread ¬_¬ the madness that it the gantz froum never ends!!
all it is, is just part 1 of 3 of gantz with an extra mission so that it could end, thats my theory anyway...
Part one: 1 - 91
Part two: 92 - 217
Part three: 218 - whatever
I just watched all of the Gantz anime over the last few days and the first 19 or 20 nepisodes were great but the ending was really weird.
Why couldnt they have just held off on finishing the anime until the manga was finished?
I dont think anyone would have been upset with waiting as long as the storyline stayed faithful to the manga.

Dunno, I always presumed the last 4-5 episodes were all some huge dream that Kurono was having - u know, just filler episodes. That way when they get round to making the 3rd stage they can just start off with Kurono waking up after getting hit by the train ("BANG", wtf?!)
I figured it was just a dream cause in those episodes it just throws away all the rules of Gantz: The guns have no delay, Kurono's a target and lots of minor background characters from through the series are brought in to play, whereas Gantz is meant to pick fighters randomly... What do you reckon?
Well if it was a dream that would indicate a third season which I would really like to see but there isn't enough story right now to make a third season so it depends on how long the rest of the manga is going to be. I'm sure everyone would like to see Kaze in action though since so many people like him. I personally like the characters Sakurai and his sensei.
It's never meant to, my young son.Originally Posted by tetnubis
And on all those GANTZ anime threads, do any of them talk about the filler characters from the last mission?
