Well ive just red up to 230 and here are some interesting points:

When sakata arrives in gantz room for first time he says to cherry somthing along the lines of "this is familiar" "or i ve seen somthing like this before somewhere".

Also i was thinking that if nishi knows izumi then he probably knows about the lock on targeting with X-gun. It seems to me he had a really good strategy with the X-gun and the invisibility and using the other players as a distraction. Perhaps he got really skrewed in that mission because tanaka alien - could see him when invisible and could not be locked onto with x gun? Also his strategy is to let other players distract the alien but he is not necessarily willing to let them all die he did after all intervene in the fight with tanaka alien before anyone got killed! Also a lot of people say nishi is weak but perhaps he just got over ambitious and he wouldn't be the only one: kurono after all got too cocky in the buddha mission - lucky to pull off the giant buddha killl and then foolishly rushing in on the thousand arms boss and getting totally owned. So if you ask me nishi is pretty good at the game.

Also I think Izumi is the is the writers way of showing us that some one like kurono could have grown in a very different way. Kurono's attitude to the game in the early parts of the buddha mission was very much the same as izumi's general attitude. Perhaps if things had gone differently in that mission kurono would have become more and more bitter and narcisistic.

Well, interesting points about Izumi and Kurono being two sides of the same coin. And Nishi does seem intelligent, and in the Tanaka alien mission he rushed in probably because he was at 90 points and was running to the light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. But Nishi is a wimp, and at the near bottom in fight skills. Also, it has been alluded to that Sakata had been in Gantz before, and that his ESP is possibly from Gantz, a extremely powerful weapon.

Problem with that theory is that sakata said himself that he was taught the skill by another person and he in turn was teaching it to cherry. So i don't think it is a gift from gantz.

i don t believe Nishi died against a tanaka alien because he was weak at fighting , it s more like Oku wanted him to die a tragic way , with only 10 points missing to be free and taking away with him some informations about gantz .

Maybe the teacher of sakata was in gantz and got the ESP as a powerful weapon or maybe his teacher.. got ir...and so on backwards...

Nishi died...because he was really near to get the 100 points..and it would be bored to knew what would happend if you reach them
in the chapter 50.
i mean, the gantzer reach the 100 points in the chapter 215...
and Nishi died because he was almost the be free...ans he was hurry...
that was a huge mistake!!!

nah nah nah, think about it:



first mission we saw: Nishi vs. Onion alien

onion is a weakling compared to laters, nishi gets 3 points from him
sirvival rate: 4 people (and a dog)

second mission: Nishi, Kurono, Katou & Kishimoto vs. Tanaka aliens

tanaka aliens can kill a gantzer suit with just one blow, ONE BLOW!!! and there are plenty of them; they all get 5 points for each adult tanaka bird
survival rate: 6 people (and a dog)

third mission: Kurono, Katou-cha, Kishimoto, Homo & Sadako vs. buddah gang

there are plenty of those statues, in all sizes, and incredibly mighty (with such a variety is hard to tell how many points was each one worth).
survival rate: kurono and nobody else (not even the dog)




NOW THIS IS MY POINT:

fourth mission: kurono vs. the fairy-like gang

even tough kurono was the only one able to survive, gantz sent him against a very powerful band of aliens, the last one remaining even chased kurono when he had already left the battlefield (and lost all of his points, also).

if you can read the progression here, it seems gantz chooses the difficulty according to the power and skills of the previous members. in the first mission we could see nishi hiding and hunting a weak alien; the last mission we were able to see, a team leaded by kurono where they've got such a strong team they were sent to hunt the probably most powerful alien gang ever (oni guys). they were all so powerful that izumi, kurono, reika, baldy and sakata reached 100 points each.


following this reasoning, Nishi was aknowledged by gantz as a wussy, so he sent him only to chase weaklings, while kurono and izumi were sent to hunt the most powerful devils ever, you dig??

...well it's a bit offensive...but it can be....
...but you forgot the mission..when all the gantzer defeated a gang of huge shadows..(after the dyno mission..and before Tae mission) they defeated them in 5 minutes...how can you explain that.
The Dynoi mission was more difficult...than that one.

That's an interesting theory, but the ring aliens could destroy it.

Nishi had bad luck, that's all (and he was shot inside the room before the mision)
