Not true...Just in Oku's case. For example, Naoki Urasawa has created numerous masterpieces, chief among them Monster and 20th Century Boys.

well he hasn't been working on manga for a relatively long time. its only been 11 years. Usually mangakas suck in the begining and have yet to come with a good style or story yet.
I like zero-one's concept tho. A bunch of people playing a game trying to be the number one gamer. If he had come up with a better story line for it, I imagine it could have been a good manga.

OMG!! It's awful. Japanese are strange.

I think Hen & Zero-One are Oku's earliest works, I'm sure that with the GANTZ experience he can come up with something awesome again once that's over. Sort of like Araki with Baoh & Gorgeous Irene, once he came up with JJBA, he's been doing awesome since then. I still wish he hadn't declared Steel Ball Run JJBA Part VII and that it still was actually a completely new series.

I'm on the same boat, mostly, the first mangas of a mangaka are shit (i know that, cuz my very first mangas were mere shit, right now i'm working on a really good story, later up on a free e-manga), take Rumiko for example, Lum and Mansion Ikoku, i didn't really like them, but Ranma was on my early years of otaku one of my favs, and to this day is, and also Inu Yasha, we didn't expected from her (when i founded out she was the autor, i couldn't believe it, but Inu Yasha and Ranma are way too seem like a lot) another big hit.

Also, I can't realize how can japanese people let do this kind of stories, I saw perfect blue, where the singer gets to act on a drama were she is rapped, and i though "it's a anime, not even the nortamerican people would think of doing something like that on a soap opera", but seing this, and another japanese game show, really, i didn't expected that, just, wow, still, Hen sucks, xD
