regarding their swordmanship, i think they juz hack and slash, all passion and no technique(though izumi knows kendo). their stances and strokes doesnt show that they r good swordsmen

Well, if we use the theory that Kurono might have been to GANTZ room before when he was a kid. I guess that explains it.

But from my guess... Yeah, that's only normal hack & slashes. Although he had seen Izumi fight using the Katana before, he might just copying all his skills. Make sense, eh ?

why do people think he was there as a kid?
