That's fine by me as long as you don't bash her.

Yea, I hate Tae because I should have been the one who gets it on with Kurono

That would just be simply stupid and morbid...

As for Nishi, I don't know why anybody would ever connect with him,

    1) He didn't last that long
    2) He had no redeemable values
    3) He was far more bad than good.

As a character, I don't like him at all.....yet I have to give him points for his death. Crying for his mom does show he was still human on the inside.

Still, what goes around, comes around. He betrayed his comrades, he got what he deserved.

Not judging you, just judging the character.

I could not stand Tae being with Kei. It was just wrong. That is so not Kei at all. Since the very beginning of the Anime he was really superficial now granted he's changed since then she's really really plain. She has no characterization to her at all. I thought the other girl who izumi ended up with would've turned out better. She's not like a supermodel or anything but she's not super plain like tae either.

Oh, so a relationship based on love is wrong but a relationship based on sex is completely okay forever? Eh? What kind of world do you live in?

First off, we're talking about the manga. If you talk about the anime, you invalidate your own argument and it becomes invalid.

She has no characterization to her at all.

    + Easily scared
    + Sweet
+ Faithful (never betrayed him with Izumi)
+ Noble (Saved the little baby)
+ Brave (went back to save Kei)

and much, much more. If you couldn't see any of those, you must be blind.

The girl who Izumi ended up with has like what................20 pages of appearance? And whenever she appeared, she doesn't say anything important. Probably the only thing that she will be remembered for is for falling unconcious when the vampires attacked.

Guys like you, I just shake my head at. Give them a character with large breasts and they call her best characerization

Oops I meant to say since the beggining of the series but I wrote anime for some reason. All of those things are valid arguments but I just think she's real boring. I'll admit towards the end of her life I started to respect her for coming back and saving Kei and all that but I don't know their relationship just kind of seemed like it brought nothing to the main plot at all.

When I first saw izumi and the other new student the first thing I thought was that they were like kishimoto and kato reincarnates or something based on how they showed up out of nowhere like that. I guess maybe thats where I was hoping the story to lean towards but instead they fling a whole bunch of bullcrap at us and i never really accepted it. Anyways, she does not have humongous megumbas she just stood out more. Tae is just a boring looking person. Someone can be ugly and still have a more outgoing personality.

ya seem to be missing the whole point to tae. kurono's always been for t&a, but he's been changing. the point is that he loves her, and doesn't care about whether she has huge tits or not. it's the point that he finally sees a girl for more than physical. i think she was a great charicter, and i'm pretty sure that she'll be back. i think that was the point of killing so many important charicters, they'll probably come back. least a few.

they brought in and killed off all these important characters, as a way to prolong the series. If Kurono can bring someone back once he gains 100 points, he's going to keep playing the game over and over so he can keep bringing people back.

I almost quit reading after katou and whats-her-name got killed off, I thought what was the point to this manga if everyone other then Kurono's gonna die? But when Tae was introduced, and being able to bring someone back after 100 points, sorta renued my interest in GANTZ

Yeah... see... Tae is a great character and all... although the only problem I had with her was how she just popped right into the plot just like that. I just felt that we should've seen more of Kei and Tae's growing relationship. In less than a chapter, Kei has an entire board of pictures with her? It made me kind of suspicious and thought that it was some kind of dream (then there was the dream Kei had -_-. This kind of thing may work near the beginning of a series, but I don't think it works when the plot's already gone so far.

well, he used a strategy to show their relationship. this is an action manga, so they weren't gonna go all romantic. but when she's in danger or kurono is about to die, they show flashes of her, and you really get to know their relationship through that...

Yeah, I was pretty down after that too. But I had a whole lot more of the manga that I had already downloaded, it wasn't that late, and I had nothing better to do so I just kept reading hoping things would get better. If I had stopped there after Katou and Kishimoto died and not gotten as far as Tae, I don't think I'd have ever started reading Gantz again. I was just lucky that I kept reading.

Yeah, I would've liked to see more of their relationship too. But think about it. If Oku had focused anymore on their relationship he would've skewed things towards romance too much. All the people who like the violence and big breasted women would've been scared off. (Which wouldn't have been a bad thing. ) But yeah, not everyone wants to see romance. And Oku certainly didn't start out writing Gantz as a romantic manga.

    Edit: Errrr.... what modernsamurai said.

But speaking of touching moments between those two, who else noticed and liked the way that Kei protectlvely covered Tae's eyes so that she wouldn't see the carnage around her when Izumi started slicing vampires up? Even though it was such a small thing, I thought it was a nice touch for Oku to add, and it made the characters seem all the more realistic to me.

Of course he's changed. I should think that seeing ones only friends getting violently butchered would change anyone but the most hardened psychopath. I will admit that normally Kurono wouldn't have fallen for Tae, but I'll try to explain why it makes perfect sense (to me anyway).

First of all, Kei might as well have no family right? We know he has one, but they don't seem to get along. He lost all his friends to the buddha hunt; right after the Buddha hunt he had no one. Now, because of a dare and some weird odds he meets Tae. Why'd he go along with the dare? He's probably on auto-pilot at the moment and is just going along with whatever comes his way. If I had what happened to him happen to me, I'd be a little numb too.
And then Tae admits she likes him. I'm sure that wasn't enough to make him outright fall in love with her, but now she's definitely made herself known to him. I'm sure that when you think you're entirely alone in the world, hearing that someone likes you can have a pretty powerful effect.
After that the dreamcast (for lack of a better term) alien shows up and slaughters everyone. Tae, Kei, and Izumi are the only survivors. Tae probably gravitates towards Kei after that because, well,
    1) She needs some support after going through that massacre and he was there too so he knows what it was like.
    2) He saved her life.
    3) She likes him.
    4) He asked her out.
So, with her hanging around with him all the time Kei starts to come out of his shell. He realizes there's someone out there who needs and cares for him. Tae grounds him. Suddenly he has something to live for. He becomes stronger and a much more likeable character because of her.

Plain? Of course she's f***in' plain. But that don't mean shit. Bottom line: She was the only one there for him when he really needed someone. Why didn't Oku make her a more interesting character? Well, if you can't figure out his reasoning, I might as well not even bother trying to explain it.

I was thinking, and you know what's funny? Reika never would've fallen for Kei if he hadn't met Tae first. So, to all you guys who want Reika and Kei to get together, you can thank Tae for making Reika fall in love with him in the first place.
