Katou is a normal person. Normal persons can't kill like they were in a manga (Upss), sometimes, he even felt compassion for the aliens, because he understood that they were the ones attacking the creatures. And remember that the previous group of Gantzers were not like the actual one. They didn't know anything about Gantz, and Katou was the one taking the first steps and the hardest decisions all alone. He tried to protect everyone, and even if he failed, we can't forget how he sacrificed himself to protect them, even in exchange of his life. He was the one who saved Kurono at the end of the Buddha Mission.
So, don't be hard with him.

Old man saw that Kurono had skillz and decided to put the suit on for his first try which many don't. He deserves props

He does have Kurono as his model (like Kurono's modeling expample is Katou). I just mainly like him because he's not stupid and gets the job partly done.

He did save Kurono on a number of occassions during the dinosaur mission. Besides, at least he did what he was told. Most people would have told Kurono to fuck off instead of taking his advice and wearing the suit.

Kurono is a lot better when he is with the old man. Kurono did some crazy shit almost getting killed, and the old man was always there to save his ass.

I think the Old man can be a very good support. In a team they need such person and the result is pretty good. Although he's not taking an important role.

I always said they are lack of a sniper. They really need this fellow. During the mission when fighting the buddish alien, there's a sniper there. He's an experience sharp shoter and an assasin. I think it would be better to revive him.
