It was the gameplay of FFX that made me fall asleep, not the storyline or anything like that. I prefer games with a lil' "emph" in 'em, maybe it it was the smoothed-paceness of everything and slower music that turned me down or somethin. It just didnt feel as fun as the other FF games.

But yeah, I liked the FFX-2 battlesystem but everything else like the storyline and what-not kinda felt pointless.

Haven't played FFXI; not rich enough to pay for the dumb online gaming subscriptions. I'd rather stick to starcraft where online gaming is free.

That is another reason why people don't like it I guess, it was a little slow for random encounters, but for boss battles it was quite intense. I haven't had so much fun as when I was fighting Dark Bahamut, or Dark Anima or even Penence, great experience. I wasn't at all impressed by FFX until I got past the linear part then there is quite a lot to do.

let's see. first, it's not that i hate voices in a game. i hate voices in a RPG, AND i don't like the TRANSLATION in the game. if it was done originaly in japanese. at least i would like to hear it in japanese, with subtitles.

second...the villain. isn't sin a shell for ... another guy? ok. you got a point about kafka. it happened, it was good, end of story. seymur still sucks. admit it. and can you really not compare tidus to zell? plus, his outfit is horrible. he's wearing clothing he had when he was 9.

    third, the hardest bosses...
    ff5 was shinryu...omega the second.
ff9 ozma. hades wasn't much big of a deal.
i don't really have the dark aeons in my game. i think the hardest one is nemesis...no? still, that's not the point. any created monster from the arena killed me in a finger snap, and they were...what 40? more or less.

fourth...the point is that ffx was boring. and i got pretty dissapointed with the story, the sidequests, the gameplay, the sphere-grid system...well everything.
it's really not my game. at all. but tastes are tastes.
even so, at least we agree on the pop singer thing(ffx-2)

i'm starting to like writing these long posts.

i liked it too... its my second favorite game (Disgaea: Hour of Darkness is Numero Uno) i think whats-his-name is right... if you stop comparing everything to all the games from the past youre guaranteed to like it more. i had never played a FF game until X and then i played VII, III, and the original FF and as soon as VI comes out ima play that one too... and i doubt any of them will remove FFX from where it is to me.

doesnt making a topic trashing a game fall under the no fanboyism rule especially since youre swearing up and down that so-and-so game is better?

Well Jyuu doesnt have enough time to monitor all the bad threads here. So it's understandable.

As for FFX. It's a gem in it's own right. Plus it was pretty.

    Okay, let's do this.

You do realise, that a translation, whether voiced or written is pretty much the same? The translation was fine, nothing was amazingly wrong, the dialogue - whether in Japanese or English, would've been bad. That isn't a translation issues, it's a script issue. Don't go blaming English voices and voice acting on a lackluster script.

Sin is the final Aeon, which was made from someone's someone. It's kinda odd and I can't really remember it well. Kefka was good, I know that, Seymour wasn't a great villain, not because of how he acted, mainly because of his motives. I only liked Kefka and so on because I was fairly new to the "destroy the whole world cause I'm a fucking lunatic" thing. But now it's old, so I take it in stride and go with it. I'm not comparing Tidus to anyone, which is why I can see him as a character and not anyone else BUT Tidus. If I don't like him, it's not because Cloud, Zell or Squall are badasses and he can't compare or would do things differently. His clothes did suck, and he ran like a retard, but it's Nomura's style so meh.

I was just pointing out all the bosses I remember that were harder then the final boss. The final boss in FFX is a complete and total joke, not even fun except for the awesome music. The Dark Aeons are in the internation version also. Created monsters from the arena are supposed to be strong, cause you're meant to use the grid system differently then what's there by deleting nodes and adding +4 to a stat there.

I agree, but that's not why I posted. I know some people don't like that and it's fine. Just be less... I dunno - so closed minded about your view on a game. A game can be bad, but if you can see why it's bad you can enjoy what's good, if you still don't enjoy it, don't play it. Games are meant to be fun after all. I usually don't look for flaws in a game until I play through it first, unless the flaws are obvious.

ok. then. my first final fantasy was 7...so that's why i usually compare it to everything else.
i know the text sucks. but japanese voices do a little extra. one example is winning eleven. that's a commentarist, the british one fails miserably.
i edited my last post, i used game, instead of rpg. it was too general. but...before the text were longer, no? or is it just me?
so...this covers it. sorry if i offended anyone. but damn, it was dissapointing.

No offense taken, FF7 was my first Final Fantasy too, also my absolute favourite game of all time, but I still don't compare (ok, I say that, but the thought usually crosses my mind).

I love good VA'ing, if a game has poor VA'ing I would rather just read text (ala Star Ocean 3, I love that game, but really shitty VA). Text based games are longer in the sense you can get more out of it in a relatively quick time in comparision to voicing it, in which it takes a very long time (think Metal Gear Solid).

I'm a fan of VA'ing, and I'm glad that developers are taking the time to sign on good voices to a game instead of picking names from the bargin bin. Going back to text only, in my opinion is like going back in time to purely black and white TV. It wasn't great when the first colour TV came out, and people may have preferred black and white (infact, producers may of as well) but with a little perserverance it can be a great thing.

    Well, I liked FFX.

I mean, yeah, right, it's no FFVII, but then, it's hard to get better than that. And frankly, I find FFX to be better than FFVIII (which I found a bit lackluster).

Now, FFX-2 COULD have been a good game. The mechanics are good, the story is intricated, the side-quests abound during all the game.... but the game was butchered by the "pop-star" ambiance which disgust you. A great shame.
