Oh, there's no way in hell that anyone could feel bad about buying this game. It really is one of the very best games of this generation, in my opinion.

I played the Gamecube version to death, got every single secret weapon, including the Handcannon maxed out for infinite ammo.

It's so powerful it can kill bosses in one or two hits usually.
Great. I'll buy it tomorrow together with another game I was convinced to buy...
I'm a really slow player So now I'll have games enough for a long time.

do you all really fell that way? i mean, this game is nice, but it could be better. it's...not so horror like anymore. you see a guy, you pop up the things head. and thats it. where has the survival part go? most enemies drop things, bullets are mostly not a problem and there's plenty of healing crap. also, that plagas story...what the hell? a bug/virus/whatever that some guy found on his basement!? bullshit i say, where's the nemesis type of enemy, that hunts you down and most of the times kicks you ass? bah, maybe it's just me.

Where does the survival part go? What the hell are you talking about? The game is called survival-horror for a good reason: there are horror antics, and you're trying to survive.

There are a lot of ammo packs/health because ammo determines how long you live. If you don't have any bullets and you're swarmed or fighting a boss, there's virtually no chance of survival.

They were trying to be innovative with this. But I can tell you're too dumb to know what innovative means, so I'll say they were trying to try something new. If they made a nemesis enemy, that would be just like RE3. If they made a virus that contaminates people it would be just like every other one: zombies. And I'd much rather have a live parasite infesting ordinary people than just some medicinal conspiracy.

i get the innovations asshole. and yes...of course you're trying to survive. the way you put it, in every game you are trying to survive. but that's not the point.
the point is that is no longer a survival-horror game. in the previous REs you had to avoid conflict in order to survive. now hordes of enemies come to you...and now you don't even have to avoid them! you have to shoot your way from the beggining to the end of the game killing everything. the game is designed to do all that. the camera helps you aim and shoot better, not run away better. the survival part is present by default, but it's an action-horror game. and don't give me that "no bullets = no chance of survival" crap. if you are swarmed by enemies and with no bullets (i find this really hard to believe), you stick the knife out, kill one or two enemies and voila! bullets again. fighting a boss and no bullets? mmm tough one...since everytime a boss is coming you are provided with several types of ammo and a merchant. every one has explored a bit, killed all those ganados, found some cash or treasure, or even discharged a flash grenade every time you see a bunch of sparrows, it's easy to buy a rocket luncher to bust the boss ass. or just retry and try again, it's easier in this game than any other, plus it doesn't affect your ending and the stuff you're getting.
reading what i'm writing explains the absence of the nemesis type of enemy, i was wrong about that (sorry), since it's not made for running away from battles.
anyway, i'm not sayin that i don't like the game, it's good, i love the camera, the menu, the buy/sell stuff, the characters, the aiming system, the weapons, the "l1+r1", the knife fight with krauser, saving ashley when she's being abducted and all that. it really stands out from the rest of titles available.
so...all this is because everyone keeps callin it a survival-horror just because of the name, and i'm hunted by this.
just some medicinal conspiracy? dude, do you even like resident evil? this is really a side story from the re series...wich originaly is about "some" medicinal conspiracy that caught the eye of millions of people and made the saga so appealing in the first place. if you prefer to kill parasites, then be my guest. i prefer zombies. just don't cut my head off just for stating my opinion.
    hell, i'll shut up.

no cuz that actually made a ton of freakin sense... jeez where are your balls not good to make valid points then run away... RE4 is a shooter Capcom knows it Nintendo knows it and anyone whos played it knows it. personally i went thru the game without ever using the rocket launcher (except on the final boss cuz you have to) and i realize its the most fun shooting i ever had!!! and i love RE4 for that...

if you still dont think RE4 i a Shooter-horror game then play the SHOOTING minigame and then kick yourself in the nuts for being an idiot

Hmm, I agree with this person on how the RE game has changed from Survival/Horror to more of an Action title, but personally I like the change, I have other survival horror games that I can play anyway like Silent Hill >.>, something that is pretty fun, and doesn't have very much ammo at all.

That's true. Although Survival-horror doesn't mean that you should avoid conflict. It just means that the odds are weighed against you. You could have tons of monsters come after you and such. As much as conserving ammo and running out (for that matter) adds superficially some amount of scary-ness, i think it's just a cheap way to get some scares. I mean, if you see a zombie and you've got a fully loaded shotgun, scary? Sort of. A zombie and all you have is a pipe? Scarier.

The developers need to come up with new ways of scaring and not just through gameplay gimmicks(RE being hard to control made it artificially scary).

I'm glad the way the series is progressing. If you still get goosebumps then the game is awesome.

and there were some genuinely scary shits in RE4... anyone remember those fuckin Regenerators and the Iron Maidens... WTF who came up with those bastards.... i dont play alotta horror games but those things speed and power combined with their apparent immunity to bullets/headshots/grenades and the fact you can only fight them with the thermal scope on made for a terrifyin experience for me... especially when they were hangin from the chains in the prison... c-r-e-e-p-y ... but i love my rifle... it always keeps me safe

true. but the regenerators can be killed without killing the plagas. they're not immortal. on my second run trough the game (profesional difficulty) i blasted the s.o.b. with the striker, since i didn't had the infrared scope. besides that, another proof is ... the hand cannon. those things can take a wooping three shots from that gun (fully upgraded). still, the best way to kill them is the rifle. speakin of wich, what do you people prefer? the rifle or the auto-rifle?
