Next Gen System Possibilities

The PS3 and XBox360 comparison thread was locked when I discovered it. Anyways, this is not exactly the same thread more or less. I want to discuss the potential types of games that can be created with the new systems. As everyone knows there's a whole bunch of new expandable stuff coming w/ these next gen systems. I'll organize it by discussing the potentials of each system in list fashion.

XBox 360: I think that it's supposed ease of development will allow developers to make pretty smooth games for it (Sony always makes powerful complicated systems like PS2 -_-). What's awesome about it is the online capabilities and other stuff it can do. I've watched videos where they do different online things and you can listen to music, download stuff, do a whole bunch of junk. That's the most appealing thing about it I think...cept I'm not too sure what else XBox can do besides expanding its system to a complete entertainment system.

Revolution: The controller and stuff is really nifty that I don't think I can compare this to anything. They had a bunch of ideas on ign what they could do w/ the controller like make an awesome FPS game. I was kind of skeptical about how games would work w/ it. I'm sure they can think of some really cool stuff though.

PS3: This is the techiest system though I still think XBox360 beats it out when you compare how its easier to develop for, something Sony never thinks about ; ;. Anyways, the biggest potential for Sony is their EyeToy I think. Supposedly they're making some new thing for the PS3. If anybody saw that spy video tech demo in the first showings. The eyetoy is pretty cool if anybody has played it. Almost as ingenious as Revolution's controller in terms of what people can do with it.

Yeah...it's gotten pretty creative.

Bullshit. The PS2 is currently the weakest system and has the most software on it.

ps2 is not the weakest system...well it is physically....the cube will work even if you throw it off the room of your house...the box will stand up to......a hammer....the ps2 no.
but games wise the ps2 is at the top with the varity, the cube is at the top with innovation, no maybe the DS is for that, and the box is top for the top games. the ps2 just has a lot of good games that most people don't know about...armored core, ratchet and clank, jak...box...only games that people know about on that is halo(which is better on the pc), ninja gaiden, and DOA...of course the cube has then games like super smash brothers...but remember, you can install linux on the ps2...and the ps3 will come with linux preinstalled so the possibilities for the ps3 are currently very high, but below the revo because of that controller...that $hit is awsome.

It is the weakest, dumbass.
Least powerful processor, least RAM, least VRAM, etc.

the games aren't even all that good. Long loading times detract from the experience.

Yeah, Sony made a HUGE mistake by making the PS2 so underpowered. That's why they are making the PS3 ridiculously powerful, which is another mistake.

they tried to make the ps2 ridiculously powerful as well, but failed, because of some architecturel mistakes, it seems like they didn´t learn form the past.

I guess some of you didn't read that I didn't compare the power of the PS2 to any other system and wrote replies based on false assumption, so I guess it'd make you dumb for calling me dumb.

The PS2 was the first system out and was aimed to be super high tech. Of course later systems like Cube and Xbox would overpower it techwise after coming out more or so a year later. The emotion system processor was stressed in PS2's marketing and was said to be very powerful but it was complicated to use. The PS3 is making its system the most powerful this time when speaking in technical terms but it's projected to be difficult to program for, at least more so than Xbox 360. Nothing of Revolution development yet.

Well the PS3 has the Eyetoy allowing developers to make different kinds of games. Revolution has it's controller and wireless project while XBox will have it's online community and interactivity.
