Thread: .Hack games- plot outline

Has anyone here actually played all four of the .hack games? I bought the first one, but didn't really like the battle system, etc. etc. but I really liked the story behind. Plus a while ago I read the followup manga and really liked it, but didn't get the referances.
So anyways, I was wondering if anyoe could explain to me the plot behind the games, and if not, I guess I could try playing the first one again; I haven't; I sold it yet....

**SPOILER ALERT FOR ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE NOT WATCHED THE ANIME
I have not played any of the game, actually, but I did watched all the anime. I have no idea which part the manga picks up--I assume the storyline from "Legend of The Twilight Bracelet"--which is the Togare something ..I forgot the name, with the 2 siblings as the main characters.
well..apparently there is this online game called The World, made by some company (I forgot the name). So, the world was a big hit. Everyone love them--but everyonce in a while, someone falls into coma from playing the game. Supposedly this is from a computer virus called Pluto Kiss. It's a big scandal, and everyone thought everything is OK after a while--but it's not. The first victim after The World re-opens (after it's fixed, ofcourse) was Tsukasa (from .hack sign, the anime). We learn that Pluto Kiss there are a few key elements--the little blob monster, an AI girl named Aura, the Twilight Bracelets, and this creepy dude who made the game.
So The world was created by some crazy dude to be an ever-evolving world by this dude as a momento to his dead girlfriend. In the game, he created this super AI named Aura as a daughter that he and his girlfriend never get to have. And after that, he disappeared.

In "sign" a person falls into coma and was trapped in the game. The person is Tsukasa (although the character in the game is a guy, Tsukasa is actually a girl. Tsukasa was trapped by a mysterious being (which is supposedly The World itself) and given this bracelet that allows him/her to control a special monster. The World also created many monsters that cannot be destroyed by normal means, causing loads of problem--in steps the Crimson Knights (or whatever they're called in your translation). They are a buncha players dedicated to keeping rules, but not official GMs. Although their leader, the winged girl...what's her name again? Anyway, she sympathize with Tsukasa for getting trapped in the game, so later quits the group as they refused to stop hunting him down. (We learn in the anime that she can't walk, thus understand the meaning of being trapped well). The story in sign progress with the main group (Bear, BT, Mimiru, Sora, Krem, etc) The real Sora was a spoiled brat who just wanna have fun on other ppl's misery, so he agreed with The World to do its bidding. Evntually, he betrays it and the whole group defeated the world. The whole group escaped, and Tsukasa is released from the game--but Sora instead became trapped. He was transformed into the final boss in the game. And..erm...well, pretty much, the process of defeating The World involves waking up Aura from her deep sleep.

The next part in the anime is a buncha OVAs, showing the real world-following a bunch of people who tries to unlock the mystery of Pluto's kiss. The group consists of The World's ex-producer, a girl whose boyfriend got trapped in the world, a girl who got involved in an incident where Pluto's Kiss actually attacked a shopping center's computer system, trapping people inside, and...eventually, they received a lot of help from Helva, the legendary hacker (also present in Sign and the games). You find out more about the mysterious "ding" , apparently in e-flat. There is now confirmation that the weird noise signify Pluto's Kiss's presence.

The last part of anime (I forgot the name)deals with 2 sibblings whose parents are divorced and are trying to find a way to stay in touch. They entered a competition in The World and won the right to use the forbidden models--Kite and Black Rose from the game. (apparently though, the Black Rose model is quite common, since Mimiru also uses that model, and she started quite a bit before the game picks up too). As soon as they entered the game, Shugo, the older brother who uses Kite model was taken by Aura to be given Twilight Bracelet because she sense another crisis coming. Eventually, the sister (I forgot her name) got kidnapped, and the buncha set out to rescue her. The party consist of Shugo (Kite model) the swordman from the game (Samurai looking guy), the ex-Crimson Knight captain (forgot his name), a rare-item collector girl (a mage), and Orca, one of the legendary player. By now, the winged guy Balmung, has already become a GM. He later sort of joined the group. So eventually the found the girl, and brought her back. And guess what? This is actually where the real story concludes, not in the game. So you finally found out that the people who created Pluto's Kiss are actually...4 spoiled middle schooler (looking at the time frame though, they'd have been in elementary school, if not kindergarten back when they created the virus). They created the virus because they want to know what death is all about--and so they trapped people in the game to see what it is like for them to actually "die" in the game, or something along that line. So the group eventually rescued Shugo's sister, convinced those kids to stop this insanity, and it's a big happy ending in an extra episode where every character from every game,manga, and anime actually meets up to celebrate. (Which is kinda funny since you actually gets to see a couple of them using the same model and ended up arguing about who's the original).

There's also an extra episode that was about Mimiru's past character, and how she ran into this 3 girls who were the very first legendary player. (apparently they takes turn playing the game non-stop until the end of highschool, just to create a little legacy.) Mimiru must've been in middleschool back then when she enters some special extremely tough dungeon with her..college student boyfriend. Anyway, he sort of ditched her in there when they came across one of the undefeatable monster, and the 3 girls came to rescue them using a special move that drains the character's energy, turning the character into crystal statue. That way, they have ensured that their legacy will last forever in the game--unfortunately, the dungeon was removed from normal game and became a special event thing that only opens up every once in a while. In this episode, Mimiru enters the dungeon with Bear to go down and see the crystal statue again (although she never told bear what the whole deal was about).

And that's the end of it. Now tell me all that happens in the manga version

I have all 4 games,beaten 3 so far, 4th one is hell T_T

The battle systems is very Real time based action and not turn based (cept when you go to the options). the games come with .Hack illuminatlity (and anime) and in the 4th and last game,the anime also comes with this funny/hillarious little peice of anime showing everyone from game and the .hack//sign crew.Its really really addicting and fun,You have tons of side quests,it takes a long time just to find the right stuff to finish quests,and the battleing was like one of the first real time based action games (scince everyone was mostly into time based games like FF)

In the manga its only 3 volumes,first one is basically Shugo (guy who looks like Kite) gets his first kiss from Aura (shes like the god of The World) and meets friends and blah blah,thats were they meet Balmung,whose an admin and were they introduce just abtou all the characters,

2nd volume is basically were the Colbat knights come in.We also get to see Zeffie (Aura's daughter)Balmung of the Azure Sky is stripped of his admin powers,Shugo and the crew go out trying to find clues about Aura and the . Hackers(the people you play as in the games, you know,Kite, Blackrose, Elf,Mia,Balmung of the Azure Sky and blah blah blah)Shugo and the crew get imprisioned by the Colbat Knights brigade,only to find out that he cant be deleted (hes being protected by Aura O_o) thast were the 2nd book ends

3rd one,they get out of the prison,meet up with an old friend who gievs them the key to go tot he Net Slums(place for hackers and broken bits of data)They meet Balrong of the Azure sky,Shugo akes him on 1 on 1,Shugo takes down only 1 out of his hp,which was all he needed to do to go see Aura,Turns out only 3 of them can go see Aura,Shugo,Rena and someone else go see her. Zeffie (Aura's daughter) and Aura end up kissing him(he got kissed by both the mother and the daughter O_o)

to Hanul : if you play the game don`t forget additional character like Rachel, and Terajima Ryoko. If you equip them by proper equipment your team will be invicible, and always use Up du ( speed up ).
Btw .hack is really loong series so browse in bandai maybe they have some good explanation about .hack

OMG I FORGOT ABOUT NATSUME!!!Natsume-Twin blade who envys blackrose(natsume likes kite,but its evident that kite likes blackrose,and that blackrose likes kite)

Actually I prefer my party to be Blackrose and Balmung,my Kite usually has some elemental spells,of course,I always use the speed scroll

HELL JEEE, finally that master creation has come to life ... you must connect it to the comp with internet and do something else but still it just like the anime only without glasses
