People who button mash have a better chance of winning in Tekken than other fighting games. Maybe MVC2 though (I saw a four year old do hyper combos with Hulk, Sentinel, and Spider-Man and do some damage to a human opponent who appeared to know what he was doing). With three button presses that can do a shytload of damage, you don't really need to know what you're doing to win.

Nah, at least at PS1-2 times Dead or alive was far worse than Tekken regarding that, but maybe it changed, I haven´t played either one since DOA2 and TTT

IMO button mashing is never good for Tekken games, there's to many moves that require 2-3 bottons just to pull them off. It does how ever work for street fighter games.

Does not. Not the most recent one, anyway. I got my butt handed to me by my friends because those combos are ridiculously difficult to pull off.
