Thread: FarCry 2, Fable 2

So here are my thoughts on both games:

FarCry 2
Check the official website for references on what I'm saying.
FC2 basically breaks the boundaries that games can't be realistic enough (thats not to say that its perfect, merely that its ahead of almost everything else).

When you get cuts (I mean medium sized ones, not scrapes) you'll have to actually bandage them, if they're big wounds, you'll have to perform surgery.

Another interesting thing is that if your bones break, expect to snap them back on like you see in the movies.
Also, you must see the fire. Its the closest thing to real life fire, the forest burns, it burns until the fires are doused out or there is nothing left to burn. There's a lot of wild life in the game, and the whole idea of being able to set a fire to destroy an enemy camp is brilliant.

Also the developers may include the need to sleep, eat, and drink, they've said that they would. But if not, thats what mods are for haha.

Fable 2
The sheer amount of detail they've put into the game is amazing.

The game is now comprised of 12 regions, each bigger than the original Fable's entire Albion. in other words? You've got more than 12 times the original game.
Some interesting features include alignment no longer being just black and white (there is now purity and corruption, cruelness and kindness, evil and good), terrain that will change according to your actions in the game (say you killed of bandits attacking a camp, you come back two in game years later to find that the camp has turned into a village), the dog (which morphs along with you), and the family.

The best thing I think? Fable 2 isn't about doing things this way or that way, rather the game is about consequences. If you're evil throughout your life and have a son, consequently, your son will be a devil child. If you kill a bunch of people at a camp in the wilderness, when you come back, that place will remain unchanged, maybe overgrown but it would not develop.

So your thoughts?

FABLE 2 released today! im sure you are all aware, but still its an awesome game and i cant wait to get it

Just got the FC2 CE yesterday (a day early again, thank you GAME), Really nice box and extras, shame about the BSOD whenever I try to start a game.

As for getting it a day early, there is the securom online release date check which checks the date (I'll ignore the limited instals for this post), this poses a problem for me as I can't get my PC online. So out comes the laptop and I go outside to find a wireless conection, I check the farcry site and it turns out there is another way to activate the game. I follow this method and lo and behold I have an activated game the day before its release............................ SO WHAT WAS THE FUCKING POINT IN HAVING AN ONLINE RELEASE DATE CHECK THEN????!!!!!!!!!!!! DX

I've been playing Far Cry 2 for the last couple of days, I'm really enjoying it.

Since it's an open world game though I just wish they'd added in a bit of inventory management and have the ability to find/unlock new weapons by exploring and finding them in the game world rather than buying them from the shop. The way it is right now there is really no incentive to explore this beautiful open world they've created, so I'm just sticking straight to the missions.

Wouldn't "evil and good" completely negative the previous four choices? That's still pretty damn black and white to me; unless they're redefining "good and evil."

I don't understand how you could be "corrupt and cruel" but not evil or "pure and kind" but not good.

Simple. You can be good but at the same time you are corrupted and value the worth of money, you help good people with their problems but you are cruel to your enemies and kill them without blink of an eye. As you can see in this example you can have 3 kinds of character at the same time rather than 100% good or 100% evil.

Good examples, but it still seems self-defeating to use the terms "good and evil" as stats. It makes that last sentence go against the rest of that paragraph.

I am definitely impressed with Fable 2. I was a little discouraged about my purchase, as I wasn't all that impressed with the first one, but after a few hours, wow! Even the choices you make at the learning section of the game, when your just a kid, have huge consequences to the world later on. I highly recommend it.

Turns uot the game doesn't like hardware accelerated sound. If anyone else is having a bluescreen problem try:
To work around the problem, reduce the Hardware acceleration slider to 'Basic'
in the Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices->Audio tab->Advanced->Performance

In the northern map, about halfway down the right hand side, you will see a path to nowhere. Drive to the end of it and have a look inside the shack.
