From what I see, the game is going to be awesome. Take a look at the 5 gameplay videos they posted up recently. Lack of ironsights is made up for with VATS in my opinion, which can even be used with Melee weapons (which will add an interesting element to the game). I'm just concerned on how hard the game is actually going to be...
Haha i just play this game recently The best thing is: This game full of mods try it to modified your fallout3

Despite the GOTY calls, Fallout 3 still falls short of Fallout and Fallout 2 but definitely far better than Brotherhood of Steel.

Beth isn't developing it.
The game's being made by Obsidian, a company that many original fallout devs work in.
Even if Beth won't let them repair the gameplay completely, it's pretty much granted that it's gonna be a much better game than FO3.
So, there's still some hope for the Fallout series!
Yeah i've heard it. At first i think it's expansion pack...on second thought maybe not.
Btw, body replacer mods makes the game more interesting, don't you think so
It's NOT an expansion pack. It's gonna be a separate game, Beth clearly said so.
Iso view and turn-based combat would be awesome, too bad Obsidian probably won't have permission to do that. (or intention to do that)
But at least they can make some decent plot, morally ambiteous quests... and kids without god mode haxxorz
Maybe they'll include some unused stuff from Van Buren.
BTW, just saw this:
Explosions, Explosions, EXPLOSIONZ!!! that's all Fallout is about.
Why would you want isometric view and turn based battles?
Because I like it?
Because it's interesting, since TB and iso view are rarity nowadays?
Because real time combat sucks in fo3 anyway?
Because FO1 and FO2 were both isometric and turn based - and this system worked JUST FINE?
Because I don't perceive turning FO into a realtime Fpp game as an innovation?
Because it would give me the feeling that i'm actually playing Fallout series?
But actually I would be fine with any system that can make this game feel more like rpg and less like a shooter.
Candles work just fine, so why use lightbulbs?
I on the otherhand, like innovation and stuff that doesn't grind. Computers are (relatively) powerfull these days, there is no reason to use an isometric view when objects can be rendered in full 3D at 30+fps. The isometric view did not make the game, it was just a game mechanic (one that was most suitable for RPG style action adventure games at the time). Mass effect is certainly no worse a game because its not isometric and turn based. It was the characters, the setting and the tongue in cheek dialogue and lore that made the FO games what they were, sadly thats something bethsoft have never been that great at.
I'd say that the reason it feels more like a shooter and less like an RPG was because BS tried to transplant the SPECIAL and stats system directly from the old games. That stuff is more suited to a turn based number crunching RPG, most of the stats are useless outside of vats (no matter haw many points you put into it, outside of vats (i.e. most of the time) a chinese assault rifle will be just as innacurate in the end game as it was at the start).
This was like a shit version of Mass Effect.
I loved the setting (IE the time and the tech and the posters and stuff) but my god it was a boring place to walk around and the main story quest was rubbish. Plus the AI belonged on a PS1 game.
As I walk in with my Super Mutant buddy into the brother hood of steel.
"It's an HONOUR" Wow no one is firing at a fucking Super Mutant that just strolled into your base?
