Bayonetta is awesome. Go get it, but not the shitty Sega PS3 port. Playable, but not the way the game was meant to be played.

Played a bit of this on the 360 over the weekend. Game is pretty cool. Yeah, it's a whole lot like DMC, but that's not a bad thing.

srsly? I have neither a 360 nor a ps3 but I was planning on getting a ps3 this spring. bayonetta would have been one of the many games I play this summer. Are u saying that's not possible? T_T

If you're like me, and all you've got is a PS3 then yes it is in fact worth your time because despite the technical issues the game is still fun.

That being said, Sega should be shot in the nads for the bastardization they call a port of a game. The 360 version was the one that was meant to be played. My advise to you would be to get it at a reduced price since by the time it's spring it'll be cheaper anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game, it's filled with nonstop action and there's plenty of fanservice (both the pervy and game nerdy type), and overall has massive replay value. I just hate what Sega has done to it. At the very least it would be worth a rent if not a buy. I've already clocked in about 18 hours since I'm going back and trying to unlock a bunch of items and secrets.

Story wise, it's nothing extravagant, but it's intriguing enough for the genre. The creator himself said he wasn't aiming for that either, but something that is enjoyale. Plus everything is so over the top (done so on purpose) that it's not really meant to be taken seriously.

The gameplay is definitely familiar if you've ever played any of the Clover Studios or Kamiya produced games (Viewtiful Joe, God Hand, Okami, DMC) which is basically what Bayonetta is all in one, and then some. The amount of combos and powers you get are able to get is quite satisfying. One mechanic that is very important though is Witch Time (bullet time as other games put it), something that you'll need to make yourself very familiar with in order to survive. Overall, if you're a casual to the series, it'll probably take you around 15hours or so, but if you've played action games before, maybe around 10-11.

The one actual negative gameplay wise is QTE (quick time events), sometimes they totally fuck you over and come at the worst times. I missed the days were I could just sit down and not have to worry for these bastardly things. Aside from that, all is good.

Good news. This game is getting a patch to allow PS3 owners the install option. Something that is very much needed and will address the bad load times.
