    Default Mabinogi

I've known about this game for a long time but it's never really caught my attention till now cause it just seemed too different from the usual maplestory like gameplay. (as much as maplestory bored me, when i used to play i the grinding aspect of it still attracted me, somewhat ironic i know.)

Also because it's been restricted to Korea, Japan i've never really bothered looking into it too much, but now, theres a North American server out for it, and it's free, (with something similar to a cash shop, except you need to pay for additional content, kinda. Either way the option to pay for additional things seem nice, hell i wouldn't really mind a monthly subscription either) so i've been looking to get into it.

Anyway to those that are familiar with Mabinogi i was wondering if you could answer a few questions. I understand new content is added during new 'Generations' and 'Seasons,' does this mean if the game is in G2, i won't be able to access the G1 storyline and side quests etc? i mean i'd like to appreciate the game from the beginning storyline, get where i'm coming from? Also, do each new generations make items/skills accumulated during previous generations redundant? (never played WoW but i heard that was a major complain with the expansions coming out)

So yeah, those are my main concerns. If you guys know of other interesting tidbits i should know, i'd love to be informed. I'm after a game that emulates a good community and has other aspects apart from a system that is purely derived from a combat schema and this seems to be it. (Something long term, yet casual- i think we can all agree that life gets hectic and busy at times, and this game seemed like it was a blend of depth yet with a feeling of casualness to it.)

I really liked the art work, but upon looking into it, the game looks so unbelievably dull.

    Doesn't really answer my question...
In regards to your post i think the gameplay will more then make up for the graphical flaws. The reviews I've read are generally very positive and in most cases i don't really care if a game doesn't look as good as the top standard games of tomorrow as long as the game itself is engaging. It also helps that Mabinogi differs a little from the usual click, hack and slash.

Actually when I said "the game" (which you just lost BTW ), I meant the actual game, not the graphics.

oh, haha my bad. Was it really that dull? all the reviews i've read seemed to really like the mmo. I haven't tried it yet cause i'm so busy but i plan to download and play it soon so yeah... Was just wondering if G2 meant i couldn't access G1 etc... it'd be pretty stupid if it did but it'd better to be sure, you know?

I started playing it because I liked the whole aspect of being able to do more then just level grind...but after playing it for only a couple days, I just felt like I was doing another sort of grinding and got bored real fast.

But then again, I'm not the best person to ask, I don't play MMOs quite like everyone else does. I'm not a big party-person, hate PvP, and would prefer doing everything alone to actually getting help from someone. Plus, mindless level grinding doesn't really do it for me.

Needless to say, I havne't found an MMO that I can stick with for more then a day or two at a time xD

I do love the graphics of the game.
And the whole aspect reminded me of UO (Ultima online...now I feel really old.. and I'm talking pre-Trammel. )

But it lacked something to keep me going, pvp maybe? the pk or be pked thing.. dunno..

BUt there are some very interesting new things there, for example, you could attend school to learn a spell, instead of mindless buying a scroll and magically appearing on your hotbar/spellbook whatever..

It gives some depth into the things.

I guess if you into that kind of graphics, haven't much time on your hands, just wanna play something light for a change, its a good game.
