Thread: Doom 4 in production.

Don't think they're lame enough to make the same mistake twice. I'm guessing they'll make an even more powerful engine, just for the heck of it.

Well they announced their new engine months ago.

Yes, the models look as plastic as before.

Hahaha, I thought doom 3 was ok. =\

So no real high expectations for doom 4.

They probably used the same ole engine
with minor updates/patches or something

Doom 3 wasn't that bad, it still was about pulling the trigger faster than your enemy and there was Mars and strange monsters. It was just made a little more horror like but it still kinda worked out. Just give better graphics, more weapons of mass destruction and challenging weapons and that game can be called "Hula Bula Garura" and people would buy it...but because it's called "Doom 4" three times that amount of people will buy it.

Just look at the BSP engine sourcecode from Gametutorials.
What more can you do with it?

But the improvements are nice.

Doom 3 (dare I say it?) was to that generation of games what Crysis is to now. Pretty graphics but not much substance in terms of gameplay.
