Dualshock 3
Does anyone have the new dualshock 3?
If so, can you answer a question of mine. Is it supposed to make a high pitched ringing sound when the rumble activates? I'm a mech engineering undergrad and everything I know points to it meaning something mechanical is loose. However, it may be just that I have weird hearing.

Didn't Sony originally remove the rumble mechanism from their controllers due to a patent infringement, pretending that it was because rumble feedback was out of date and unneeded? It's quite possible that they had to create a brand new mechanism, and this is why it's not behaving in the same way as Dual-Shock 2 controllers.

I don't know about the production model, but I agree with the theory that Sony utilized a new mechanism. If all is lost then check your warranty, Sony is great with handling replacements.
