    Default BlazeBlue

New 2d fighter by ARC Systems. Same people who did Guilty Gear.
    trailer: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/u...es/177195.html

    Exclusively for PS3.

From what I can see it looks pretty sweet. I wonder how many characters are in it though. Hopefully more than 4.

Considering it's a current generation 2D fighter, they could have at least given the characters smoother animations.

^Well considering the video wasn't the best quality, I'll hold my judgment on graphics until I see one that's a lot better.

Anyway that video was pretty sick, and I got the guilty gear vibe especially when I heard the music starting.

Any more info? Once I get a ps3 I'll definitely be getting this. =D

On a side note, a game called Arcana Heart which has somewhat similar style combat but with vertical combos is coming out soon for the PS2 with the price of $30. Not bad imo.

I'm not talking about the sprite quality (i.e. the resolution and detail). You can easily see the animation quality is low, especially when the character with the huge sword swings it around near the beginning and during the special moves where it slows down the gameplay momentarily.

I recently found a video of KOF XII. Their sprites look like they were redone for the current generation of hardware and the animations look really fluid and awesome. I'll see if I can find the link again.

    EDIT: Here's the link: http://www.speksnk.org/speksnk/video...MotionJPEG.avi

It's a handheld camera video, but the quality is good enough to notice the really nice animations.

^I've seen that, it's supposed to be like "2.5 D" not so much 2D but at the same time not really 3D.

And as for the animation, iono the second video after it(since it's on loop for gametrailers on my comp) looked pretty smooth to me. :S

The second video that you mentioned was worse quality than the first one, maybe it showed me a different video. I couldn't really make out anything from that one.

In-case you weren't sure, in the KOF XII video, the first few clips before it sort of zooms in are from the previous KOF game. After the zooming in bit you get to see much higher quality sprites and animations. There's a huge world of difference between that and the previous KOF games, as well as this BlazeBlue game. I expect something more given the extremely powerful hardware and high resolution HDTVs of today.

I'm sure they're still using 2D sprites by the way. After it switches to the new sprites it has some Japanese text on the screen and the only part of it I can read is "2D".

Since I'm not a PS3 owner, and not really a hard-core fighting gamer, I can't really give too much input on this.

However, I suppose I can say it sure seems.... interesting. A 2d fighter on the PS3, that is.

Lol. Yeah the quality of the video itself got worse, but the animations seemed a lot smoother to me.

And KOF sprites were always pretty bad, they had such a slow change compared to the rest of all other fighting series up until now. Then before that it jumped to 3d.... They where always jaggedy and and pretty low quality sprites so it didn't surprise me that it would be like night and day when watching that video. Imo it's just the fact that KOF finally stepped it up a bit with bigger sprites and 3D affects that may make it seem a lot different. But honestly I think BlazeBlue looks a lot better. Looks like it has a lot better backgrounds(which actually moves along with the player as they move), character designs, battle system, and detail to me.

Maybe I'm just biased or getting tired of KOF. I like that they upped the quality of animation and sprites and all, but I just like the combat system a lot more in Guilty Gear.

    Edit-
Not best quality but I found the KOF video.

IMO Guilty Gear is hands down the best 2d fighter period, so I'm really excited that their making a new fighting game in the same style. I like how deep the game can get. I played it for a year with my friends and we only started getting tired of it near the end of the year. Each character has an original play style, the animations are high quality, same with the BGs, the speed is really fast, the ability to combo and juggle is awesome, roman cancels and false roman cancels, the rock music, quirky characters.

OK back to BlazeBlue. The main character's name is Ragnar the Blood Edge

Thats exactly what I was thinking.

I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends
