I disagree with MDM, as in MMOS are boring with no story and whatsoever.
Of course we have our share of grindtasic mmos out there.

But definately you can't generalize.. lets take FFXI for example.

You have several missions in depht with the story, and chain quests where you have a very detailed story.

Playing mmos you don't need to take as a second job, but play smart.
Get 4-5 friends and make a party with the same hours as yours.

WOW, In less then a month I got lv70 with my new char. Just playing barelly 2 hours a day. But I had the same friend we logged every time and did stuff together..

Not to mention all thoses games are a chore until you hit the level cap, then its another game..

Talking about traditional games, I have ROgue Galaxy here.. that I look and go.. oh shit there is so much stuff to be done.. and just bore me to think that I'll loose like 2-3hours grinding, and catching/breeding bugs... just so I can finish that damned tournament..

So.. Traditonal games can be just as boring as chinese grinds mmos

I have to agree, FFXI is the only MMO I played with a good story line. CoP had a story that could contend with regular FF stories easily and most other JRPGs as well.

    game play however is...

MDM is right in generality, most MMOs have either no story or a story that's so boring and detached from your character that you don't care about what's going on.

Traditional games....for me...You get to play more games compared to online games....
Online games are unfinishable...and get boring and repetitive after a while....
No storyline is a no-no for me....
