Default Rock Band vs Guitar Hero 3

Just wondering about you peoples' thoughts on the games and which one is better? I've myself have only played GH3 and not yet Rock Band. Speaking to someone who has played it [rock band]she says, its really fun. Didnt ask her how it stacked compared to GH3, but maybe i can assume she liked it more thank GH3.

So which do you like more?

To me Guitar Hero has usually better songs (never heard the ones in rock band though) But Rock Bands seems to have more of a party game thing goin Drums FTW.

    What the...?

    I read on IGN that:
    - Guitar Hero 3 is the way to go if you want a fun, difficult but rewarding game.
    - Rock Band is the way to go if you want a party game that's easy for anyone to pick up and play, but it's not as fun as GH3 if you want to play it on your own.

Yeah guitar hero was fun for about ten minutes. Then I got angry and pick up a real guitar instead. I can understand people who want to feel cool or just have fun with it but... The drum thing sounds a helluva lot more fun.

While GH3 does have a couple of good songs, the majority of them seem to be songs that the developers thought were cool and just put in there. The note charts for a few select songs are fine but for mostly everything else seem random. Chords and extra notes where there doesn't need to be any and either too many HO/POs where there shouldn't be any or no HO/POs where there should be. It's a step up in difficultly compared to GH 1 and 2, so if this is your first time playing you will have some trouble.

Granted this is neversofts first time making a game like this, and they did a good job with it. But practice makes perfect, this is a really fun game though.

Rock Band is made by the people who did GH1, 2 and encore. so they know what they're doing. Great note charts and really fun to play with friends. More accessible to solo gamers who just want to pick up a game and have fun without having to memorize incredibly hard and unfair note charts. But the hardware sucks. It's flimsy and breaks easily (EA do replace broken hardware though, so that's a plus). Hopefully they'll reinforce their crap and make it solid.

As for which one to get? I'm personally a fan of Rock Band. If you have friends/room mates you can play with it's a no brainer on what to get (even better if you can split the cost with them and let them keep whatever instrument they want lol).

I like Guitar Hero 3 songs better, but I also like how Rock Band is like a party game and you can have a singer and a drummer.

In my opinion DrumMania is a much better drum simulation game. It has 5 pads instead of the 4 that Rock Band has. The only down side is that it is Japanese, and most of the songs are in Japanese.

I tried both and suck at both, I fail. But I'm sure GH3 will be more popular.

I got GH3 on the same day AC6 (which is awesome by the way) and mass effect, so I haven't played it much yet.
