Rock Band has drums. And it's a better party game. I mean, if you're gonna be playing a fake guitar in front of your TV by yourself, you may as well go out and learn to play a REAL guitar.

Learning how to play a real guitar is a commitment and hard work, playing guitar hero is just fun. I could spend years playing real guitar to just be completely mediocre or I could spend a few weeks playing guitar hero instead and be really awesome at that.

Yea, but you're missing the point. Learning how to play GH3 really well by yourself is just antisocial. YOu need to get out more.

that's stupid, since you can easily practice for 15mins a day (cumulative experience + muscle memory = GH improvement) and go out, fuck around and be social for the other 23 hours and 45 minutes of the day. since a huge commitment is obviously cause to get out more.

also, do you go out everyday, all day? do you spend every waking moment of your being socializing? I don't know about you, but I sure don't.

like I said before, it's just a game, you don't need to put in huge time sink commitments to get good (like you would a real guitar, never mind the money you'd need). and, as an added bonus, you can play guitar hero with another person!

I'm with Elcura on this one. Who says that every person who plays Guitar Hero wants to beat every song on Extreme at 100% anyway? I just pick it up every now and then and have some fun.

agreed. Anything like that, be it DDR, singstar/karaoke revolution or whatever. It's something just nice to pick up and enjoy for a bit and even better when they're people there to play it with, but playing it by yourself is perfectly fine. Nothing anti-social about that at all.

That reminds me of the South Park episode about guitar hero.

The fact that you're practicing a party game is disturbing in itself.

Which goes back the original topic of the thread. Since you're playing with another person anyways, you may as well play Rock Band.

The concept in itself is pretty unique to the point where it isn't just a fun party game, but a fun single player game as well. It's not a strange concept for a game to be single AND multiplayer at the same time, is it weird that someone wants to play the game starting on easy and eventually play on expert?

Also, in the case of SSBB, would you consider it weird to practice that? If you want to play competitively (which is great fun for some people) then you would practice at a game. Not everyone is the same, some people like to play games differently and have different goals in terms of what they get out of it.

I said you can also play with another person. You can also play Rock Band by yourself if you feel inclined too. Rock Band and Guitar Hero are two very different games but at the end of the day it's all a matter of opinion. GH3 is harder but way more forgiving (GH3 has some stupid note charts that throw extra chords into the song to make it harder, also makes you play both Lead and Rhythm at the same time). Rock Band is easier but more precise and the note charts are sensible and immersive. Both are great party games, GH3 2 player modes are great fun (especially Battle) and you're likely to get anyone who wants to play to play. Rock Band is a great party game IF you find people willing to try out vocals or drums (which range from embarassing to hard).

So again, it's a matter of opinion and taste, I have my bias towards Rock Band, but GH3 is still an excellent game.
