Deferred lighting techniques and HDR don't work properly in DX9.
Look at GRAW for example.

What about other games where 64-bit HDR + AA seem to work fine in DX9? The main two that come to mind are:
- TES: Oblivion
- Crysis
They don't use deferred rendering.
STALKER does and only has the edge smoothing like GRAW as well.
From what I read, it seemed like that person was saying that 64-bit HDR + AA does not work in DX9 properly without some workaround hack, period. According to him, 64-bit HDR requires Deferred Rendering.
Some Counter Strike: Source maps as well as Day of Defeat: Source maps have HDR lighting, I'm not sure if it's deferred though.
