Thread: Jump Ultimate Stars Translation Project

I'd been eyeing the project for a while and it looks like it is slowly edging its way towards completion.

What it is, is a community wide project to translate J.U.S. to english, because the chances of an official US translation are close to 0 due to the way that the characters and trademarks in the game have been split 100 ways in the US (read lisencing hell). It started off in a closed Wiki style where people would do translations for various parts of the game and translators could compare stuff, but that changed quickly to a much more restrictive selection of translators cuz a bunch of nit-wits started translating pages at a time with online translators. So at this point I believe most of the textual translations are done, and they are attempting to extract the images with writing on them and photoshop those into english as well (this aspect they are trying to open to the general community again).

This project seems like a unique effort in terms of what has been happening in the fan translating community.

So what do you all think of it?

The first one in the series got me all hype to buy the DS..

But this one is just awesome.

Time to shop for a used DS (i'm cheap =p)

I was kinda hyped about getting the game as well, however I played a demo of the game on my DS and the amount of japanese involved kinda scared me off (given the card system and all).

The online play is supposed to be pretty good.

There was a video on youtube, the guy gives a rundown on the game.
And yea, if you don't know jack about japanese you uterly screwed.

You don't necessarily need japanese since there are extensive guides for menus, battle conditions, etc. However this looks like a great project. Hopefully too many cooks won't spoil the broth.

For missions you might need, tho you can aways make up the kanji on that stupid windows IME pad^^

Even with my limited Japanese I was able to get through the game and unlock every single koma...

Played both JSS and this one. Got bored of it pretty quickly.

Never quite get what the big deal was, same way I couldn't get into those SSB games, I don't know how it really qualifies as a "fighting" game, more like party games.

They should just hurry up and release the second Bleach DS game, now that's a game~
