Not that I'm excited or the sort, since I'm pretty much Jaded with video games, but from the previews I've read, this is what I've surmised about the two:
Far Cry 2: STALKER + Spore + Africa
Crysis: Pretty graphics.
Granted I haven't read much of the previews for Crysis, but come on. Every message board I go to that has a topic concerning Crysis is all about the visuals, and much less on the gameplay. Though I think I recall a topic about moving foliage or something. That's nice.
Now, I know Far Cry 2 is being done by one of the many aspects of Satan, but I do believe this aspect of Satan is trying to change. Somewhat.
I mean, for starters, the game isn't going to be another shitty port from a console game. Ubisoft releasing a PC game first? They should run this on CNN under Breaking News.
Of course, they could just be asshats who are planning to use the PC as a test for bugs so they can fix them before a console release. But I'm just a bit cynical.
However if they actually do pull through and deliver those many features they have, I'd be pretty impressed actually. I mean, they should purchase the rights to the name Radiant AI and call their system that, because if the previews are an indication, that's actually some pretty Radiant AI.
If they aren't pulling a Pete Hines, then this game will probably offer the most freedom as well as open world in any game on the PC.
Hopefully, it will also cater to the pyromaniac, illegal logger, and poacher in me. Burning grass and trees is supposedly in (as well as being able to break down trees by running into them), I guess it's just the existence of lions and giraffes, and elephants, and a couple of other endangered African animals that's missing. I hear there are gazelles, but where's the fun in hunting gazelle's to extinction?
